Despite hitting free agency last month, Jeremy Lin has yet to find a new team ahead of the upcoming 2019-20 season. Lin is coming off a mixed campaign where he performed well in a reserve role with the Atlanta Hawks, before being frozen out by a contending Toronto Raptors team during the final months of the season.

Over the past few weeks, Lin has attracted interest from both China and Europe, although the former Knicks star has turned down a move abroad in favor of attempting to extend his NBA career. With still more than a month to go until the new season, Lin could still find himself with a new team before opening night, and here are three of the most likely destinations.

#3 New York Knicks

Jeremy Lin will always be associated with his spell in New York, and the 30-year-old would jump at the chance to rejoin the team were he made a name for himself. During the 2011-12 season, Linsanity was kicking into full gear as the point guard averaged career highs in points (14.6), assists (6.2) and steals (1.6).

Injuries and a loss of agility have taken their toll in the ensuing years, although Lin is still good enough to play a big role on a struggling Knicks team. A return would finally supply a deflated New York fanbase with something to get excited about.

As it stands, the Knicks are stacked at point guard, although Dennis Smith Jr. and Frank Ntilikina continue to be linked with trades. If either young player is moved, Lin would prove to be a popular quick fix until the end of the season.

#2 Portland Trail Blazers

The Portland Trail Blazers boast one of the best backcourts in the NBA, although the team is entering the 19-20 season with virtually no cover for their starting duo of Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum. The Blazers were already short during their run to the 2019 Western Conference Finals, and the loss of Seth Curry has virtually depleted the team's reserve options.

The recently acquired Kent Bazemore may spend time at shooting guard, although a backup for Lillard is desperately needed. Before struggling with the Raptors, Lin averaged 10.7 points and 3.5 assists in just under 20 minutes per game with the Hawks, and there is no reason why he couldn't offer similar numbers in Portland.

Ultimately, the current Blazers roster is suspectable to an injury to either of its star guards, and the addition of Lin would also lighten the duos workload.

#1 Charlotte Hornets

Entering the summer, Kemba Walker was expected to sign a near-max extension that would tie him to the Charlotte Hornets for the remaining prime years of his career. However, Michael Jordan refused to commit such a large amount of money to his star man, and Walker left for Boston.

Following Walker's departure, the Hornets moved quickly to sign Terry Rozier to a three-year $58 million deal, although the 25-year-old remains unproven as a starter that is well known for his lack of maturity. Lin would provide the Hornets with an excellent backup option, and the 30-year-old's experience should also have a positive impact on Rozier's maturity and personal development.

Bringing Lin onboard should be a straightforward decision for the Hornets, and there is no doubting that he could add plenty to a franchise that has struggled to make any kind of impact over the past decade.
