2017 was another breathtaking year in the NBA as fans around the world were served some high quality basketball. Players came up with jaw-dropping performances which made us realize why we loved this game so much.

It was a really tough job picking out just 5 out of a plethora of high quality performances but here are some of the performances which defined NBA in 2017 and will take some doing to be eclipsed in the near future.


#5 Draymond Green's unique triple-double

The 2-time NBA champion and All-Star produced a unique performance against the Memphis Grizzlies at the FedEx Forum when he recorded a triple double without posting a double digit total in the scoring column.

Draymond Green boasted a stat-line of 4 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists, 10 steals and 5 blocks. He became the first player in NBA history to record a triple-double without scoring at least 10 points while also becoming just the second player in NBA history to have posted at least 10 rebounds, assists and steals in a single game.

This performance was a testament as to why Draymond is currently considered as one of the best defensive players in the NBA.

#4 Rajon Rondo's diming night

Rajon Rondo showed glimpses of his All-Star calibre

The 2008 NBA champion and 4-time NBA All-Star rolled back the years at the Smoothie King Center, New Orleans when he dished out a career high 25 assists against the Brooklyn Nets on 27 December.

Rondo became the first player to earn as many as 25 assists in a single game since Jason Kidd's 25+ assist performance against the Mavericks in 1996. He created 58 points with his assists, the most by any player over the last 20 seasons while also setting the Pelicans franchise record for most assists in a single game.

Even though he might not be playing his best basketball for the last few seasons, this performance just goes to show that he still has it in him to play at the highest level.

#3 Rudy Gobert's monster '25-25' game

Rudy Gobert means nothing business on the boards

The 7ft 1in Frenchman produced a monster performance against the Memphis Grizzlies at the American Airlines Center on 20 January. Rudy Gobert posted a career-high stat line of 27 points, 25 rebounds, 2 blocks and an assist while shooting at 73 percent for the night.

Gobert was dominant defensively on both sides of the floor with 15 defensive and 10 offensive rebounds. He was surprisingly efficient with the huge volume of shots he took, finishing with 8-out-of-11 shooting and was solid from the free-throw line with 11-of-17.

While Gobert is considered as one of the best big men defensively, his points total for the game came as a big surprise.

#2 Westbrook's record triple-double

Westbrook became only the second NBA player to record a triple-double average through regular season

Russell Westbrook had a productive 2016-17 season where he posted 42 triple-doubles in the regular season to set a new NBA record. His triple-double performance against the Orlando Magic on 29 March 2017 was something that only a few players in the history of NBA could dream of.

His stuffed the stat sheet with 57 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists including 19 points in the final seven minutes and a game-tying three-pointer to send the game into overtime.

Westbrook's 57 points were the most by any player to have notched a triple-double in the history of the NBA.

A future Hall-of-Famer, Russell Westbrook was a dominant force last year and this was one of the performances which made him the deserved winner of last season's MVP award.

#1 Devin Booker's night in the '70's

Devin Booker is already the most crucial player for the Phoenix Suns

One of NBA's up and coming superstars, Devin Booker etched his name forever into the history books by becoming only the sixth player in the NBA to have scored 70+ points in a single game.

Booker had 70 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and went 21-of-40 shooting overall while getting 24-of-26 from the free-throw line.

He set the Suns' franchise record for most points scored in a single game and became just the second player in 11 years to score 70+ points in a game since Kobe Bryant's 81-point performance against the Raptors in 2006. Booker scored a mind-boggling 51 points in just the 2nd half alone in this game.against the Celtics on 24 March 2017.

Booker is seen by many as a member of the next generation of superstars in the NBA and this performance was just a reminder of the talent he possesses.
