Nepal Basketball League: Times remains perfect, Budhanilkantha push for a playoff spot

Times International Club and Budhanilkantha Municipality Basketball Club won their respective matches of the ongoing Nepal Basketball League here at Kathmandu, Nepal.

Times International Club defeated Royal Basketball Club 84 – 69 to remain unbeaten in the league. Times took first two quarters 25 -17 and 22 – 17 respectively. The third quarter was even with both teams scoring 19 points while Times took the last quarter 18 – 16 to win the match. Sri Lankan player Praneet Udumalagaga was declared man of the match for his 16 points, 11 rebounds, and 2 assists.

So far; Times Basketball Club has won all 10 matches they have played and is the only unbeaten team in the league while Royal Basketball Club has played 9 matches (won 2 and loss 7).

In the other match of the day, Budhanilkantha Municipality Basketball Club defeated Nepal Police Club 74 – 68 to boost their chance of making into the playoffs. Budhanilkantha took the first quarter 27 – 13 while Nepal Police Club took the second quarter 16 – 14. Going to the half time break, Budhanilkantha was leading by 2 points. After the break, Budhanilkantha took the remaining two quarters 18- 15 and 15 – 14 respectively to win the match.

Saugat Deep Singh of Budhanilkhantha Muñcipality Basketball Club was adjudged man of the match for his match-winning display of 13 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 steals.

Total of eight teams are participating in the 2nd edition of Nepal Basketball League, which began on 27th April and ends on 22nd June 2019.

Top four teams after the round robin league will enter the playoffs. First and second placed teams will play each other three times and the winner will advance to the final.

The losing team will play the winner of the second qualifier between the third and fourth-placed team of the league for the place in the final.
