Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies are fresh off a win against a stacked Brooklyn Nets team last night. Due to his impressive start to the 2022-23 NBA season, fans and experts have chosen him as their MVP favorite, including Chris Broussard.

In just four games this season, Ja Morant has established himself as a legitimate superstar in the league. So far, Morant is averaging 35.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 7.0 assists while shooting over 55% from the field and 60% from downtown. The former second-round pick has taken over the league and is the current scoring leader.

After their win against the Nets, Chris Broussard is convinced that the young guard will be the league's MVP winner this season. Additionally, he isn't bothered about the early-season struggles that the Nets are currently experiencing. For Broussard, the Nets' coaches just need to focus on defense in order to win.

"There is no shame in losing in Memphis to the leading MVP candidate Ja Morant... Ja Morant my pick for MVP this year, there's no shame in losing to them," Broussard said.
"I'm not worried, but I'm gonna give the Nets some advice... Steve Nash and coaching staff, emphasize defense. The only way you can be good at defense is if you focus on it."
"And I see Kyrie Irving putting forth effort. They just need to work on the technique and the strategy."

The Nets have lost two of their first three games. However, one detail that most people often leave out is that they played against playoff teams. The New Orleans Pelicans, Toronto Raptors and the Grizzlies are all trying to contend for the title this season. Brooklyn's next two matchups won't be easy as they'll go head-to-head against the Milwaukee Bucks and the Dallas Mavericks. Both teams are also gunning for the championship.

The MVP award might go to Ja Morant this year

The season has just started and people can't control themselves as they've already started picking their award winners for the year. One of the picks that has been commonly seen throughout social media is Ja Morant winning the MVP award. This isn't a far-fetched pick, as the former Rookie of the Year started off the year incredibly well.

The Murray State alum took the league by surprise as he started his 2022-23 campaign with a 34-point performance. They won that matchup against the New York Knicks with a score of 115-112. Morant followed it up with a game against the Houston Rockets, where he scored 49 points and sealed the win for the Grizzlies. In their third game, he didn't have an eye-popping statline compared to his previous games and lost to the Dallas Mavericks in a blowout game.

Ja Morant is looking more comfortable with his perimeter shooting as well. So far, he's knocked down 12 of his 20 attempts from deep. If he keeps this up, Morant could end up with the MVP award by the end of the campaign. Last year, he won the Most Improved Player award and winning the MVP this year won't be impossible.
