NBA Injury Report: LeBron James probable, Anthony Davis probable and more updates on Jarrett Allen and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope | December 6, 2022

NBA injury report headlined by status of LeBron James and Anthony Davis

Two of the biggest superstars in the NBA continue to be part of the official injury report. The Lakers have listed both LeBron James and Anthony Davis as probable for tonight’s road game against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The four-time NBA MVP’s name has consistently been part of the injury report due to a groin injury that caused him to miss five games. This time, it’s a sore left foot that has caused him to be probable tonight.

More than likely though, LeBron James will be playing, particularly since it will be against his hometown team, the Cavaliers. Unless something drastic occurs, he will likely be playing in front of an expectant crowd that has fond memories of his years in Cleveland.

LBJ played 34 minutes on Sunday in Washington and put up 29 points, eight rebounds and seven assists.

Like LeBron James, Anthony Davis is also a perennial name on the Lakers’ injury report. He is listed as probable due to back tightness. Judging from how he has been playing, it doesn’t seem possible that his back is hurting.

AD has been on a tear for nearly a month already and he capped it off with an incredible 55-point explosion against the Washington Wizards. It was a performance so spectacular that even the hostile crowd started to chant “MVP!” for Davis in the fourth quarter.

Before the masterpiece against the Wizards, Davis also stood toe-to-toe against Giannis Antetokounmpo, widely considered to be the best player in the NBA today.

Over his last ten games, Davis is averaging 34.2 points, 15.4 rebounds, 2.9 blocks and 1.3 steals. The Lakers have gone 8-2 in that span.

After battling Antetokounmpo, Brook Lopez and Kristaps Porzingis over the last few days, AD will not take on two of the NBA’s best interior defenders. Jarrett Allen (questionable) and Evan Mobley will be another tough task for Davis to handle.

Jarrett Allen: Low back contusion; Injured since November 25, 2022

NBA All-Star Jarrett Allen is questionable against the lA Lakers.

Jarrett Allen last played on November 25 in the Cleveland Cavaliers' loss to the Milwaukee Bucks. He played only 12 minutes in the game and left early due to a hip injury. Allen has now missed Cleveland’s last five games and has remained questionable.

The NBA All-Star starting center of the Cavaliers will be badly-needed as they hope to contain Anthony Davis and the sizzling LA Lakers. Allen was instrumental in helping hold AD to just two second-half points in their first meeting on November 6.

Without Jarrett Allen, the Cavaliers have been using Evan Mobley at center. Mobley’s an elite defender, but will certainly need help in trying to slow down the red-hot Davis. Robin Lopez, the seldom-used backup center, could see more minutes tonight.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope: Sprained right wrist; Injured since December 4, 2022

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is listed by the Denver Nuggets as questionable tonight versus the Dallas Mavericks. “KCP” played 31 minutes in the Nuggets’ loss to the New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday and didn’t look injured.

Caldwell-Pope may have sustained the injury versus the Pelicans but didn’t know about it until later. If he misses tonight’s action, it will mark just the second time this season that he’s unavailable.

Back-to-back NBA MVP Nikola Jokic has been full of praise for everything “KCP” has brought to the team. He’s a 3-and-D specialist that has been playing as advertised. Davon Reed, Bones Hyland and Christian Braun could see more playing time if Caldwell-Pope is sidelined.
