NBA Injury Report: Paul George questionable, Cade Cunningham still out and more updates on Kyrie Irving and Keegan Murray

Los Angeles Clippers v Dallas Mavericks
NBA injury report is headlined by Paul George's left-hand contusion

Seven-time NBA All-Star Paul George could miss the LA Clippers’ game against the Detroit Pistons tonight due to contusion on his left hand. George played a game-high 41 minutes in a losing cause against the Dallas Mavericks the other night.

He likely injured his hand in that game as the Clippers have officially listed him as questionable. “PG-13” has already missed one game this season a week ago.

The Clippers have always been very conservative with their approach to their NBA superstars, which is why George could miss tonight’s game. Head coach Ty Lue had his team perform at an elite level last season in stretches where they didn’t have Kawhi Leonard and George.

Lue will have to come up with the same coaching brilliance as Leonard has been sidelined while George could follow suit.

Without Leonard for most of this season, Paul George has been terrific for the LA Clippers. He is averaging 24.4 points, 6.1 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 1.6 steals. “PG-13” leads the team in scoring and steals.

Although the Clippers have a deep roster featuring a plethora of two-way wings, losing George will be a problem they will have to overcome. Norman Powell could get more minutes if George is unable to play.

Meanwhile, the Detroit Pistons will also be short-handed as they tussle with the Clippers. The No. 1 pick of the 2021 NBA Draft will miss his fourth straight game for the Pistons due to left shin soreness. Cunningham last played on November 11 against the Boston Celtics where badly struggled.

The Oklahoma State product played only 24 minutes, scoring just four points on 1-11 shooting, including 0-6 from three-point land.

Alec Burks and Killian Hayes have seen their minutes go up without Cade Cunningham in the lineup. The Pistons expect Cunningham to be back on November 20 against the Sacramento Kings.

Kyrie Irving: Suspended since November 1, 2022

The NBA could see the return of Kyrie Irving in a few days.
The NBA could see the return of Kyrie Irving in a few days.

The Brooklyn Nets suspended Kyrie Irving for at least five games without pay until he has fulfilled “objective remedial measures.” Irving last played against the Chicago Bulls, where he was lethargic and finished with only four points on 2-12 shooting. He also missed all six of his attempts from three-point distance.

“Uncle Drew” has now missed seven straight games and will miss tonight’s matchup against the Portland Trail Blazers. His suspension, however, is nearing its end based on several reports. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski broke the news of Irving’s imminent return to action:

“Suspended All-Star guard Kyrie Irving is nearing completion on the process needed for a return to play and could rejoin the Brooklyn Nets as soon as Sunday’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies.”

The Nets were 2-6 with the former NBA Rookie of the Year winner in the lineup and are 4-3 without him. They’ll likely still be eager to see him play with them again.

Keegan Murray: Lower back soreness; Injured since November 15, 2022

The Sacramento Kings could miss the services of one of the NBA's top rookies tonight.
The Sacramento Kings could miss the services of one of the NBA's top rookies tonight.

Keegan Murray, the No. 4 pick of the 2022 NBA Draft, is suffering from lower back soreness. He suffered the injury in the Sacramento Kings’ drubbing of the Brooklyn Nets a night ago. Murray played only 12 minutes and finished the game with four points and three rebounds.

The Kings have officially listed him as questionable for their game against the San Antonio Spurs. Sacramento’s training staff wants to check on the rookie during the morning shoot-around to determine his status.

Back issues can be quite tricky, even if sometimes not serious, so the Kings could take extra precautions on Murray. The rookie could be sidelined for the second time in his young NBA career.
