Prime Sports Club defeated Gurukul Club to lift the women’s title of the 1st National Club Basketball Championship here at Kathmandu, Nepal. Prime took the lead in first quarter 10 – 6. Prime also took the second quarter 15 – 7 but lost the third quarter 6 – 11. Prime took the last quarter 6 – 5 to win the title with the total score of 37 – 30.
Sneha Shrestha of Prime Sports Club netted 13 points for her team while Seema Karki also netted 13 points for Gurukul. Sneha Shrestha of Prime was declared MVP of the championship. The men’s championship was won by NASA club in a final played a day earlier.
The championship is organized by the Nepal Basketball Association. This is the first edition of the championship and each team was allowed to play 3 foreigners in the squad. The top 6 men’s and women’s teams were invited to compete in the inaugural edition of the championship.
