What's the story?

Former Boston Celtics player Glen “Big Baby” Davis was arrested at an Hampton Inn in Aberdeen last month, reports ABC 2 WMAR in Baltimore.

In case you didn't know...

Big Baby Davis is remembered majorly for being a champion with the Celtics in 2008. He was a crucial part of the rotation in 2010 Finals against the Los Angeles Lakers, unfortunately, they lost in seven games.

The heart of the matter...

Glen Davis made $35 million during his NBA career, but guess that wasn’t enough as he tried to be Frank Lucas at the Hampton Inn. Davis was staying in room number 208 of the Hampton Inn in Aberdeen. When the owner knocked on the door, someone from inside the room told him to “F*@# off!”.

Aberdeen Police was called by the owner due to the abusive response from inside the room. A signed consent was given by Davis to search his room.

“They recovered 126 grams of marijuana. In addition to that, there was a briefcase that contained 92,164 dollars of U.S. currency along with a ledger that contained language which is consistent with someone involved in the sale and distribution of narcotics”, according to Aberdeen Police.

The ledger was of the names of people who owned money along with baggies for individual packaging of a quarter pound of marijuana. According to court records, Davis was in business with strains called “Sour D” and “Berry” all from Los Angeles. This all lead to Big Baby Davis getting arrested.

What's next?

Davis’s arrest was followed by an indictment weeks later on seven courts for drug possession and distribution.

Author's take

It is sad to see former NBA players getting arrested for drug possession and distribution. It's unfortunate that this is the path Davis has ended up on.
