Over the past 12 months, the San Antonio Spurs have lost Tony Parker, Kawhi Leonard, and Manu Ginobili, and the franchise is no longer among the powerhouses of the Western Conference. However, while working with limited resources, Gregg Popovich has been able to keep his side relevant, and the team has made the playoffs against the odds in back-to-back seasons.

The Spurs have once again stayed quiet in the offseason, with Rudy Gay's extension and DeMarre Carroll's signing among the teams only notable moves. Nevertheless, the Spurs still have the opportunity to make trades in the coming months, and Popovich will be eager to make improvements to his roster. So, as the 2019-20 NBA season draws closer, here are all the latest San Antonio rumors you need to know.

Carmelo Anthony could 'work on' the Spurs

Despite not featuring in the NBA for almost a year, Carmelo Anthony's future continues to be among the NBA's most discussed topics. The 35-year-old has been linked with the likes of the Miami Heat and Los Angeles Lakers, although ESPN's Max Kellerman believes that the Spurs could explore a move for the fading star.

Here's a guy who can get the most out of Carmelo and Carmelo can probably help still - (Gregg) Popovich and the Spurs. They have a good track record of taking old, skillful players and putting them in the position to make contributions to winning efforts. A team like that maybe Carmelo could work on.

Following his move to Houston last summer Anthony played just 10 times before being told he was no longer part of the team's plans. Melo has since expressed his willingness to take on a smaller role to extend his career, although the Spurs would first need to clear a spot on the roster.

The Spurs have the resources to complete a trade for Andre Iguodala

The Spurs almost signed Andre Iguodala back in 2017, and the organizations renewed interest in the veteran star was quickly reported following his surprise trade to the Memphis Grizzlies earlier this summer.

With his career nearing the end, Iguodala appears unlikely to stick around on a rebuilding Memphis roster this season, and Preston Ellis of Bleacher Report believes the Spurs have the pieces to complete a trade.

(Trey) Lyles and (DeMarre) Carroll cannot be moved in this transaction until Dec. 15, but Iguodala likely isn't in a rush to suit up for the first few weeks of the 2019-20 season. Iguodala could help the Spurs get to the playoffs again before head coach Gregg Popovich's inevitable retirement.

Losing Lyles and Carroll wouldn't be too much of a loss for the Spurs, while the addition of Iguodala would be a significant boost. Following an injury-hit regular season, Iguodala excelled during the playoffs, averaging 9.8 points, 4.0 assists, and 4.3 rebounds per game.

DeMar DeRozan's future with the franchise remains a mystery

DeMar DeRozan arrived in San Antonio last season as part of the blockbuster trade for Kawhi Leonard, and while he couldn't match his predecessors level of performances, DeRozan enjoyed a fine first season. Over 77 appearances, the shooting guard averaged 21.2 points, 6.2 assists, and 6.0 rebounds per game - and was arguably the Spurs' second-best performer behind LaMarcus Aldridge.

DeRozan's current deal will expire later this year, and Mike Finger of the San Antonio Express-News previously reported that the Spurs would consider offering the veteran a maximum deal. However, nearly a month has passed since the update, and talks between the Spurs and DeRozan have seemingly not progressed as planned.

In the meantime, DeRozan has been heavily linked with a trade, and the 30-year-old is among the most likely candidates to be moved ahead of the deadline. Ultimately, things don't look good, and any chance of DeRozan extending his deal will probably depend on his willingness to take a pay cut.
