Spain has been chosen to host the first women's basketball World Cup in 2018, the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) announced.
The Spanish Basketball Federation (FEB) received 18 votes against Israel's five in a ballot of the FIBA Central Board on Tuesday.
Spain has staged the men's World Cup earlier this year, which, much like the women's event in 2018, was the inaugural tournament under the new name for men.
It is believed that the tournament will be held September 1-9, 2018.
