What's the story?
The list of the Indian boxing contingent, set to represent the country at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia was announced today that featured a total of twelve athletes who will battle it out across various weight categories.
While the squad boasts of a good mixture of youth and experience, the squad will be led by veteran boxer MC Mary Kom and 2010 Commonwealth Games gold medallist Manoj Kumar, who will look to repeat some of his magic from the past.

The 2018 edition of the Commonwealth Games is set to kick-off from 4 April 2018 that will play host to 70 teams, who will represent their nation across 275 events through the competition.
Set to light up the Oxenford Studios in Gold Coast, the boxing event will feature athletes who will take part right from the 46-49 kg category to the power packed action from the 91 kg category.
The heart of the matter
The women's contingent, which will be led by Mary Kom who will contest in the 45-48 kg category will also feature the likes of Laishram Devi (60 kg), Pinki Rani (51 kg) and the exciting prospect of 20-year-old Lovina Borgohain in the 69 kg category.
Representing the men's category, veterans Manoj Kumar (69 kg) and Satish Kumar (91 kg) will also don the mentor's role for the likes of youngsters Naman Tanwar (91 kg), Gaurav Solanki (52 kg) and Amit (46-49 kg).
Manish Kaushik (60 kg) and Mohammad Hussamuddin (56 kg) along with Vikas Krishnan, who will look to continue his good run in the 75 kg category will also represent India the competition.
