Kentucky Football injury report: Players injured ahead of Week 5 showdown

The Kentucky Wildcats go on the road to play the sixth-ranked Ole Miss Rebels on Saturday at noon ET. Kentucky is coming off a 41-6 win over Ohio. The Wildcats are off to a 2-2 start and almost beat Georgia. Entering their Week 5 road game, Kentucky has some key players on the injury report.

Kentucky injury report Week 5

The Kentucky Wildcats have seven players listed as out and one player as questionable on the SEC-mandated injury report.

Chip Trayanum, RB

Ohio State transfer Chip Trayanum is out of the lineup in Week 5 as he works his way back from a broken hand. Trayanum was cleared to play in Week 5 but coach Mark Stoops wasn't sure if he would play due to his strength.

“We weren’t in pads today, but he’s cleared to go,” Stoops said on his weekly radio show, via YourSportsEdge. “We’ll see what type of strength he has in that hand. It was operated on, so we’ll see how he comes along and what he’s like here throughout the week. But he’s cleared.”

Last year with Ohio State, Trayanum recorded 373 rushing yards on 85 carries.

Hardley Gilmore IV, WR

Kentucky wide receiver Hardley Gilmore IV is out for Week 5. The freshman wide receiver is dealing with a long-term injury, according to Stoops.

Darion Henry-Young, DL

Darrion Henry-Young is out of the lineup in Week 5 against Ole Miss.

The defensive lineman has yet to play a snap for Kentucky this season.

Courtland Ford, OL

Kentucky Wildcats offensive lineman Courtland Ford is out of the lineup in Week 5.

Ford is entering his redshirt senior year but has yet to play due to an undisclosed injury.

Tavion Gadson, OL

Kentucky defensive lineman Tavion Gadson has yet to play a snap this season for the Wildcats. The redshirt freshman is listed as out on the injury report.

Josaih Hayes, DL

Josaih Hayes was expected to be a starting defensive lineman for Kentucky, but he is lost for the season due to an Achilles injury.

Last season, Hayes recorded 24 tackles and 1.5 sacks.

Devin Smith, LB

Kentucky Wildcats linebacker Devin Smith is out of the lineup for Week 5 against Ole Miss. The freshman linebacker has yet to play a game this season.

Maxwell Hairston, DB

Kentucky defensive back Maxwell Harirston is questionable to play against Ole Miss in Week 5.

The defensive back got hurt during the game against Ohio. Hairston has recorded eight tackles, one sack, one forced fumble, and an interception this season.
