Rohit Sharma has played 87 T20I matches so far, and is aged just 31. He has been in superb form the last five years, hitting truckloads of sixes, and his four T20I hundreds have all come in this period.

Here are some records that the right-handed batsman can break on the upcoming Australian tour.

#1 Most T20I runs in a calendar year

Virat Kohli holds the record for hitting the most runs in a calendar year in T20Is. In the year 2016, Kohli scored 641 runs in 15 innings at a brilliant strike rate of 140.26.

The Mumbai batsman this year has amassed 556 runs in 15 innings at a marvelous strike rate of 150.27. He needs just 85 runs to overtake Kohli's record.

With three T20 matches scheduled to be played by the Indian cricket team against Australia, there is a huge possibility that Rohit can eclipse Kohli's record this year.

#2 First Indian to hit 100 T20I sixes

Rohit can smash a lot of big sixes because of his fantastic timing; he sees the ball quicker than most batsmen, and thus has more time to get into a good position.

Rohit has played 80 international T20 innings and struck 96 sixes, which is the most by any Indian in this format. He currently stands in second place on the all-time list with 96 sixes, trailing behind Chris Gayle and Martin Guptill, who jointly share the No. 1 spot with 103 maximums.

Rohit has hit 69 international sixes in 2018 - the most by any player in a calendar year, breaking his own record of 65 that he set last year. Also, Rohit is the only Indian batsman to cross the 300 sixes mark barrier in T20 cricket.

Rohit Sharma also holds the record of the fastest century in T20Is along with David Miller - both scored a century off 35 balls. If he can get to 100 sixes on the Australian tour, he will add yet another significant record in his bag.

Rohit’s purple patch in international cricket continued in the West Indies series. He smashed his way into the T20I record books as he became the first player ever to slam four centuries in the format.

Rohit reached his fourth century in just 58 balls, during the second T20 against the Windies at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee International Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. During that impressive knock, he hit eight boundaries and seven hits over the fence. Rohit had earlier slammed centuries against South Africa, Sri Lanka and England.

With 2,203 runs, the skipper also became the second-highest run-getter in T20Is, trailing behind New Zealand star opener Martin Guptill (2,271 runs). The difference between the two batsman is just 68 runs, which Rohit can easily overcome in the series Down Under.
