Sachin Tendulkar is a name that needs no introduction in the cricketing world. In an unprecedented career spanning almost a quarter of a century, Tendulkar broke almost every conceivable batting record in the history of the game and is considered by many as one of the greatest batsmen of all time.

He piled on the runs against every opposition, he scored centuries in varied conditions and bore the expectations of more than a billion Indians every time he strode out to bat. But then, there are also certain records that he holds that he may not be so proud of. And that becomes almost an inevitability when someone has a career as long as Tendulkar’s.

Tendulkar has scored as many as 14 ODI hundreds in a losing cause. The next man on the list is Chris Gayle, who scored 11 ODI hundreds in a losing cause for the West Indies.

Tendulkar's stunning desert storm innings, where he scored 143 in the year 1998, his 141 against Pakistan at Rawalpindi in 2004, his magical 175 against Australia in 2009, his 141 in Kuala Lumpur and his long awaited 100th international hundred are some of Tendulkar’s most famous knocks in a losing cause in ODI’s.
