India are scheduled to play four Test matches in Australia and the contest is expected to be enthralling. Presently, the Men in Blue are in Australia and they are playing a T20 series. The first two matches were hit by rain and Australia won the first T20 match by DL method. The second T20 match got abandoned due to rain. Subsequently, India won the third T20 match.

The first Test match will start from 6th December and it will be held at the Adelaide Oval. The anticipation is high and India have a bright chance to win the Test series. The two top-notch Australian players Steve Smith and David Warner will not play the Test series and their absence will certainly reduce Australia's chance to become victorious.

Meanwhile, India had a disastrous overseas Test series in England a couple of months back. Team India lost the five-match series by 4-1 and they did not play like the number one ranked Test team. But India bounced back in the home Test series against West Indies and won the series quite easily. However, India need to learn from the Test series in England and they should not repeat the same mistakes in the Test series against Australia.

The current Australian Test team definitely lacks experience but they can not be taken lightly at home. Here we discuss 3 things India must do to win the Test series in Australia.

#3 Magnificent bowling performance

India's bowling performance has improved a lot in the last two years and the bowling unit is expected to do well against Australia. In fact, India's bowlers were fantastic in England and they will be keen to repeat the performance in Australia.

The selectors have picked three spinners on this tour which is surprising. The experienced spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja are in the squad alongside Kuldeep Yadav.

The fast bowling department is undoubtedly strong and they should take plenty of wickets in the fast-bowling friendly Australian pitches. Five pacers have been included in the squad and the pacers are Jasprit Bumrah, Umesh Yadav, Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. The competent Indian bowlers can trouble the inexperienced Australian batsmen in their own backyard.

#2 Good opening partnership

India failed to get a noteworthy opening partnership in England and it had an impact in the Test series. Hence, the Men in Blue will be determined to get a good start from the openers. A solid opening partnership builds the foundation to get a big score and the Indian openers will play a gigantic role to win the Test series.

Meanwhile, there are three openers in the Test squad against Australia and the openers are Prithvi Shaw, KL Rahul and Murali Vijay. As a matter of fact, Shikhar Dhawan has been dropped from the Indian Test squad and it will be interesting to see the opening combinations for the Test series.

Murali Vijay had a forgettable Test series in England where he was dropped after two matches. The experienced opener will be eager to score plenty of runs in this series. Similarly, KL Rahul had a substandard series in England where he had only one big score.

However, youngster Prithvi Shaw will be the player to watch in the series. He made his India debut in the recent Test series against West Indies and his performance was stupendous where he scored a century in his debut match.

#1 Consistent middle order

India's middle order is exceptional on the paper but it failed to reach the expectations in England. The substandard performance of the Indian middle order batsmen was certainly responsible for India's downfall against England. Virat Kohli scored plenty of runs in England but no other batsman scored consistently in the middle order and Kohli lacked support from other batsmen.

Kohli will bat at number four and he will be looking forward to continuing his good form. Kohli scored four Test centuries in Australia when India visited Australia in 2014. Rohit Sharma has been included in the Test squad and he will be a big boost for the Indian middle order. He has been in an impressive form in the limited overs cricket and he will be aiming to replicate the same performance in the longest format of the game.

Additionally, Ajinkya Rahane and Hanuma Vihari are in the squad. Rahane score two half-centuries in England and he will be under pressure to do well. India's middle order is definitely proficient but batsmen need to perform consistently to put big runs on the board.
