2019 IPL auctions: 5 surprise Indian names who might get huge bids

The Indian Premier League has provided so many young talents to the Indian cricket team over the last decade. Not just that, the league has provided opportunities to so many talented Indian cricketers to share the dressing room with the legends of the game, thereby making their dream a reality!

The 2019 IPL auction is upon us and as usual, many talented stars are in the fray to land lucrative contracts after impressing in the domestic circuit. Some of them might be million-dollar buys, given their credentials. So, let us now look at five uncapped Indian players who might get huge bids at the 2019 IPL auctions to be held at Jaipur on December 18.

Dhapola is a talented right-arm medium bowler who represents Uttarakhand in the domestic circuit. Having made his List A debut in the 2018-19 Vijay Hazare Trophy, he took 14 wickets with best figures of 4/34 at an economy rate of 3.45.

He finished the tournament as his side's leading wicket-taker. The 28-year-old has been in an emphatic form this Ranji season since making his First-class debut against Bihar on 1st November, 2018.

Dhapola took nine wickets in his debut to guide his team to an emphatic 10-wicket win in the opening game of the season. Continuing his impressive run in the 2018-19 Ranji Trophy,

Dhapola is now the leading wicket-taker with 39 scalps in just four matches and his best figures reading 7/50. Dhapola has taken five five-wicket hauls and two 10-wicket hauls so far this season and is literally on fire with the cherry. Watch out for him at the 2019 auctions!

The 25-year-old Samarth made his First-class debut for Karnataka during the 2013-14 Ranji Trophy against Mumbai at Bengaluru.

Since then, he has gone on to represent his state in 50 First-class games scoring 3426 runs at an average of 42.82, with his highest score being 235.

Samarth, who has 268 T20 runs to his name scored 47, 27* in the third unofficial Test against New Zealand A recently apart from top-scoring for his side in the second unofficial Test last week at Hamilton with a score of 50* off 83 in the first innings.

The Mysuru-born batsman was the highest run-scorer for his side, Karnataka at the 2018-19 Vijay Hazare Trophy amassing 312 runs in seven matches at an average of 44.57 including two half-centuries and a century. Samarth's consistency at the top across all formats, might augur well for him to earn an IPL contract this season.

The Gujarat batsman who went unsold at the last season's auction with a base price of INR 20 lakhs has been one of the star performers in the domestic circuit since making his First-class debut a decade ago as an 18-year-old.

Priyank finished the 2016-17 Ranji Trophy season as the highest run-getter with a whopping 1310 runs in 10 matches at an average of 87.33 with his highest score being 314*.

He followed his phenomenal run with the bat in the last Ranji season scoring 542 runs in seven matches at an average of 60.22 with his highest score being 152. Priyank, who was Gujarat's highest run-getter at the 2018-19 Vijay Hazare Trophy with 367 runs at an average of 52.42 (two half-centuries and a century) has been sensational so far this Ranji season.

He has scored 667 runs in 5 matches at an average of 83.37, and is currently the second highest run-getter of this season with three centuries and four half-centuries to his name.

Apart from 5242 First-class and 2234 List A runs, Priyank has 747 runs to his name in 27 T20s.

A useful right-arm medium bowler, Panchal deserves an IPL contract given his credentials with the bat over the last few domestic seasons.

The right-arm mystery spinner shot into the limelight during the 2018 Tamil Nadu Premier League where he turned out for the Siechem Madurai Panthers.

His disciplined bowling, both in the power play as well in the slog overs, was instrumental in his side's title-winning performance in the third edition of one of the most promising T20 leagues in India.

Varun, who recorded an economy of just 4.70, bowled 125 dot balls in the 40 overs that he bowled throughout the season. He picked up nine wickets in ten matches, with his best figures reading 3/16.

His variations with the ball during the third edition of the TNPL were exceptional and he is sure to unfurl some in the next IPL if he gets his much-deserved contract at the 2019 auctions.

His four-over quota proved vital for Madurai's success, as batsmen were visibly perplexed while facing his deliveries.

He followed it up by scalping 22 wickets in 9 matches for Tamil Nadu at the 2018 Vijay Hazare Trophy and emerged as the second highest wicket-taker in the tournament. Expect Varun to land a lucrative contract at the 2019 IPL auctions after his recent exploits with the ball!

Probably, the much-awaited bid among the hundreds of talented, uncapped Indian cricketers at the 2019 IPL auctions will be that of this 25-year-old all-rounder from Mumbai. At the 2018 auctions, he went unsold with a base price of INR 20 lakhs.

But Dubey's fortunes are sure to change come December 18th, as his all-round performance in the domestic circuit has grabbed the attention of many in the Indian cricketing fraternity.

Having made his T20 debut for Mumbai during the 2015-16 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, the southpaw has so far played 13 T20s, scoring 189 runs at a strike-rate of 147.65 while picking up 10 wickets.

Dubey's big-hitting abilities came into limelight when he whacked five sixes in an over off leggie Pravin Tambe, during the eliminator game of inaugural Mumbai T20 league earlier this year.

He played for the eventual runners-up, Shivaji Park Lions. Dubey was adjudged the Player of the Tournament for his splendid all-round display, scoring 213 runs while picking 11 wickets with the league's best figures of 5/24.

His recent performances in the ongoing 2018-19 Ranji Trophy season have been exceptional, where he has scored 376 runs in four matches with his best score being 114 (two half-centuries and two centuries).

The right-arm medium fast bowler has 16 wickets to his name so far in this Ranji season, with best figures of 7/53. A hard hitter and a valuable bowler, Dubey is sure to rule the roost at the 2019 IPL Auctions given his all-round credentials and recent form.
