It is a well-known fact that Indians are persistent in all parts of the world and have excelled in every possible profession. Well, the same has been the case with cricket.

Over the years, we have witnessed some great cricketers of Indian-origin who have represented other nations and have proved to be a vital part of the team. Till date, we have had great players of Indian-origin to have played the game. This includes the likes of Nasser Hussain, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Monty Panesar, Hashim Amla, and the list continues.

Thus, in this slideshow, we will look at five India-origin players who made their international debut against India in any forms of the game that is Tests, ODIs or T20Is.

#1 Shivnarine Chanderpaul (West Indies)

SHIVNARINE CHANDERPAUL / WEST INDIES...
Shivnarine Chanderpaul

The left-handed batting prodigy from Guyana, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, had been known for his unorthodox yet effective batting style. He had been a batting force in West Indies' tipsy-topsy batting line-up.

He embarked his cricketing journey under the likes of Lara. Chanderpaul became the successor of Brian Lara and was the lynchpin of West Indian batting line-up.

Although known for his slow-paced batting, Shivnarine holds some of the most interesting records in the history of cricket. He has the record for the 4th fastest Test century which he hit against Australia in 2002.

Soon after his Test debut, the ODI format came calling Chanderpaul. He made his ODI debut against India on 17 October 1994. Unfortunately, Shivnarine did not get a chance to bat in his debut ODI game. He had to wait for almost three years to score his maiden century in ODIs. Interestingly, his maiden ODI century also came against India on 3 May 1997.

Amongst all the West Indian players, Chanderpaul is the second highest-run scorer against India in ODIs.

#2 Narsingh Deonarine

Narsingh Deonarine, the man who idolized Shivnarine Chanderpaul, didn't have an escalating career as he failed to make a mark in any of the forms of cricket. Deonarine possessed prominent similarities to Shivnarine as both were fond of anti-glare patches below their eyes.

Deonarine made his ODI debut against India on 31 July 2005. Interestingly, the left-handed batsman made his ODI debut under the captaincy of his idol Shivnarine Chanderpaul.

Narsingh had a decent debut against India in Dambulla, Srilanka. It was the second match of the tri-series where Srilanka hosted West Indies and India. Although Deonarine's inning was slow-paced as he scored 41 off 91 balls, he was the anchor of West Indies' innings as they bundled out for just 178 runs. Eventually, India easily chased the total with 14 overs and six wickets remaining.

Despite showing a fair amount of promise, Deonarine failed to cement his place in the West Indian team.

#3 Monty Panesar

In an era when the England cricket team was known for its insidious fast-bowling, this slow orthodox left-arm spinner silently trespassed the England team and slowly made a place for himself.

Monty Panesar made his Test debut against India at Nagpur on 1 March 2006. It was the first Test match of the series between India and England. Panesar took two wickets in 1st innings while a wicket in the 2nd innings. Interestingly, Monty's first test scalp was the GOAT Sachin Tendulkar.

With time, Panesar established himself as the first-choice spinner for England while adding a variety to England's pace dominated bowling line-up. However, slowly, Graeme Swann justified his place in the England team which put a halt to Panesar's career.

#4 Haseeb Hameed

Haseeb Hameed shot to fame when he made his Test debut against India on 9 November 2016. Having debuted at the age of 19, Haseeb became the youngest England opener to make his debut.

He had a fantastic Test debut against India. In his debut match at Rajkot, he went on to score sublime 82 in England's second inning only after missing a well-deserved half-century in the first inning. If ever his 82 was not enough to tell about his character, his 59 at Mohali was breathtaking as he almost saved the match for England with his fractured finger. It was also his last knock of the tour, as he went back home for surgery on his broken finger.

#5 Hashim Amla

If there is one man who poses a serious threat to Virat Kohli's ODI records then he is Hashim Amla. Having scored 8982 runs in Test cricket, Amla is the third highest run-scorer for South Africa in Test matches.

Hashim Amla made his Test debut way back in 2004 against India at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Amla failed to emulate his class in the debut game as he scored just 26 runs in the match as

India went on to win the match by 8 wickets.

However, little did anyone knew about his sheer talent that he possessed. With time, Hashim Amla established himself as the most important player for South Africa, especially in Test format.
