5 most economical bowling performances by Indians in T20Is

Barinder Sran was exceptional on his T20I debut for India

In recent times, the Indian bowling has a major improvement, particularly when it comes to the fast bowlers, who have begun to attain a great level of consistency in their games.

Here we take a look at the 5 most economical spells bowled by the quicks in T20 Internationals:

Note: Only performances where bowlers have completed the ful quota of 4 overs have been considered.

5.Barinder Sran(4-0-10-4) [Economy Rate:2.5] vs Zimbabwe- Harare 2016

Playing his debut T20I, Barinder Sran gave an excellent account of himself against Zimbabwe at Harare, picking up figures of 4 for 10 to skittle Zimbabwe out for a paltry 99.

That performance paved the way for a facile 10-wicket for India and Sran was adjudged the Player of the match for his excellent showing with the ball.

4.Bhuvneshwar Kumar(4-0-9-3)[Economy Rate:2.25] vs Pakistan-Bangalore 2012

Bhuvneshwar Kumar gave a swing bowling masterclass against Pakistan on debut

Another excellent performance on debut finds a mention on this list. In the absence of the experienced star Zaheer Khan, India decided to blood in 22-year-old pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the side for the opening T20I at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.

After India had made a below-par 133 with the bat, the Uttar Pradesh seamer turned it on with the ball, removing three out of the Top 4 Pakistani batsmen to leave them reeling at 12 for 3.

Even though India went on to lose the game, Kumar had provided a glimpse of India's future fast bowling arsenal.

3.Ravindra Jadeja(4-1-9-1) [Economy Rate: 2.25] vs England- Kolkata 2011

On a night when every Indian bowler went for runs, Jadeja was miserly to say the least

After sweeping the ODI series 5-0, India went into the lone T2I against England at the Eden Gardens high on confidence and looking to clinch this game as well.

However, after winning the toss, the Indian batsmen just could not get going as the England bowlers led by Steve Finn applied the breaks on them to restrict the hosts for 120 for 9 in their 20 overs.

In reply, almost every Indian bowler was taken by the visitor's batsmen, barring Ravindra Jadeja, who bowled beautifully to record figures of 1 for 9 in his overs. His performances proved to be the only bright spark on a dismal night for India.

2.Bhuvneshwar Kumar(4-0-8-2) [Economy Rate:2] vs UAE-Dhaka 2016

Bhuvneshwar Kumar was terrific for India in the game against the UAE

Making a comeback to the side in the Asia Cup game against the UAE, Bhuvneshwar Kumar showed several glimpses of his old self, swinging the ball at good pace to trouble the UAE batsmen.

His spell of 2 for 8 in 4 overs helped bowl them out for 81 and led by Rohit Sharma with the bat, India knocked off the target in under 11 overs.

1.R Ashwin(4-0-8-4) [Economy Rate:2] vs Sri Lanka- Vizag 2016

R Ashwin was terrific for India that day in Vizag

With the series level at 1-1, both India and Sri Lanka went into the third game looking to seal the series and ride the confidence into the Asia Cup.

However, the Lankans were hit by the Ashwin storm at the ACA-VDCA Stadium as the off-spinner ripped the heart out of the Sri Lankan batting line-up, picking up figures of 4 for 8 in 4 overs to skittle them out for 82.

Led by an unbeaten 46 from Shikhar Dhawan, India reached the target with little trouble to win the game and the series 2-1.
