IPL is all about it's fans. The passion with which the fans follow their teams has made IPL one of the toughest and most followed tournaments in the world. Talking about the teams that have had the biggest fan-following, Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore are right up there.

While the Royal Challengers are loved by the fans for their flamboyance, the Super Kings are adored for their class and consistency. Led by two charismatic leaders in MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli, CSK and RCB's fan-base has expanded exponentially over the years. Matches involving these teams attract huge attention and are some of the most high-anticipated matches of the tournament.

Also, the star-studded line-ups of these sides make the games even more interesting. While it is a dream of every player to play for any of these sides, there are a lot of players who have had the privilege of representing both these high-profile sides in the IPL.

We will look at 5 well-known players who have played for both Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings.

#5 Kedar Jadhav (RCB - 2016-2017, CSK - 2018-Present)

Kedar Jadhav was traded to the Royal Challengers Bangalore at the 2016 IPL auction after strong performances in domestic cricket and in the IPL for Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals). After two below-par seasons, Jadhav was released by RCB in 2018.

He scored just 309 runs in 17 games in the two years he played for RCB. Chennai Super Kings bought Jadhav for a hefty amount at the 2018 auction. The all-rounder injured himself in the very first match of the season and was ruled out of the tournament.

Jadhav made a comeback for the Super Kings in 2019 and played 14 games for the side. He is set to play his third season with CSK as he was retained by the team ahead of the IPL 2020 auction.

#4 Albie Morkel (CSK - 2008-2013, RCB - 2014)

Albie Morkel made a name for himself with his big-hitting abilities during his time with the Chennai Super Kings. Morkel won a lot of games for CSK with his batting down the order and often provided the much-needed impetus late in the innings by scoring quick runs.

Apart from his batting, Morkel was also used quite regularly with the new ball by his skipper MS Dhoni. After being a part of the CSK squad for six years, Morkel changed home in 2014 as he was snapped by RCB for ₹2.4 crores at the auction.

However, Morkel failed to recreate the magic he showed at CSK as he scored just 45 runs in seven games in the entire season. The Proteas all-rounder couldn't contribute with the ball either as he took just four wickets in those seven games.

Owing to his mediocre returns, Morkel wasn't retained for the following season. Morkel later played for Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) and Rising Pune Supergiant in 2015 and 2016 respectively.

#3 Parthiv Patel (CSK - 2008-2010, RCB - 2014, 2018-Present)

Parthiv Patel is one of the most underrated IPL players of all time. Patel started his IPL career as a back-up wicket-keeper for CSK. Despite MS Dhoni's presence in the side, Patel was regularly played as a specialist batsman and was given the important task of opening the innings.

After spending three years with the Super Kings, he was released by the franchise in 2011. The diminutive opener then played for Kochi Tuskers Kerala, Deccan Chargers and Sunrisers Hyderabad for a year each before turning up for RCB for the first time in 2014. Following a mediocre season, the wicket-keeper was dropped by RCB next year. However, Mumbai Indians snapped the southpaw at the 2015 auction.

Patel played some impactful knocks for the team and was a crucial part of the squad that won the title in 2015 and 2017. This made his stock rise again and RCB snapped him up in 2018, and his second stint with the team has been quite productive.

#2 Brendon McCullum (CSK - 2014-2015, RCB - 2018)

Brendon McCullum was the poster boy of IPL in the initial years of the tournament. The swashbuckling Kiwi player played some breathtaking innings at the top of the order.

McCullum played for quite a lot of teams in the IPL but he had his best time playing for the Chennai Super Kings. The former New Zealand skipper had two stellar seasons for CSK in 2014 and 2015, where he smashed 405 and 436 runs respectively.

McCullum seemed to be in complete command of his game as he annihilated bowling attacks during his time with the Super Kings. Unfortunately, CSK were banned in 2015 and McCullum had to shift base.

After spending two years with Gujarat Lions, McCullum was purchased by RCB in 2018. Unfortunately, the former Kiwi skipper couldn't deliver for RCB as he scored a paltry 127 runs in six games in the entire season.

Following a dismal season in 2018, Baz was released by the franchise. He has been appointed as the head coach of the Kolkata Knight Riders ahead of IPL 2020.

#1 Shane Watson (RCB - 2016-2017, CSK - 2018-Present)

Shane Watson is undoubtedly one of the all-time IPL greats. After being the face of Rajasthan Royals for eight years, Watson was signed by Royal Challengers Bangalore for a jaw-dropping amount of ₹9.5 crores.

The former Australian all-rounder, who has won the most valuable player award twice, looked completely out of sorts for RCB as he scored just 250 runs in 24 games in the two seasons he played for them.

His performance was better with the ball as he took 25 wickets in 24 games but it couldn't save him from getting axed in 2018. However, Watson was sensational in CSK's comeback season to the IPL when he donned the yellow jersey for the first time.

Watson amassed 555 runs at a phenomenal average of 39.64 in 2018 and played a pivotal role in CSK's title victory.

And even though he has had an underwhelming season in 2019, Shane Watson was retained by CSK ahead of the auction.
