6 prominent cricketers with no international century at Lord's

England v India: Specsavers 2nd Test - Day Four
Lord's, London- The Mecca of Cricket

An international cricketer will be portrayed as a legend when he conquers all the barriers in the sport, attain glory through numerous achievements. One among such many achievements would be to get their name on the Honours Board at Lord's cricket ground, London.

Whenever a batsmen scores century or a bowler picks a 5-wicket haul at Lord's, incidentally his name goes on to the honours board. Since Lord's cricket ground is known as "The Mecca of Cricket", it is one of the ultimate honour that every cricketer would crave for.

However, there are certain well-renowned cricketers who missed out on such glory but still are one of the greatest players of the sport.

#6: Younis Khan, Pakistan

Australia v Pakistan - 3rd Test: Day 3
Only Pakistani to score 10000 runs in Test cricket

Younis Khan is one of the under-rated superstars in cricket history. The Pakistani stalwart has scored 10099 Test runs in 213 innings at an average of 52.05 and became the 1st Pakistani to score 10000 runs in Test cricket. He also holds the record for most runs by a Pakistani in Test cricket.

In his international career, the former Pakistani captain has scored 41 centuries (34 Test, 7 ODI) and holds a unique record of scoring Test centuries in all 11 countries which have hosted Test matches.

Though Younis has 3 international centuries in England, he failed to make a mark at "The Mecca of Cricket" when he had chances to do so.

#5: Matthew Hayden, Australia

Scored the highest individual score by an opener in Test cricket

The aggressive left-handed batsman is one of the best opening batsmen in cricket history. Hayden was a vital part of the 'Invincible' Australian team in 2000's. He always counter-attacked his opposition with his mind-boggling stroke-play.

With his best innings of 380 in Tests against Zimbabwe, Hayden holds the record for highest score by an Australian and by an opening batsman in international cricket. In his career span of 15 years, he scored 15066 international runs in 348 innings with 40 centuries.

Though Hayden had dominated the oppositions all over the world, he continued to succumb against England in England, scoring a solitary century at Kennington Oval, London in plenty of matches against them.

#4: AB De Villiers, South Africa

South Africa v Australia - 4th Test: Day 1
AB De Villiers- Superman of cricket

AB de Villiers (ABD), fondly known as 'Mr. 360 degree', is one of many reasons why cricket fans loved the South African team. Quoted as one of the best batsmen of all time, ABD was a nightmare for many international bowling attacks with his highly innovative shots.

ABD holds the record for fastest international 50, 100 and 150 in ODI cricket. In Test cricket, he holds an unbeaten streak of playing most innings without registering a duck (78), which ultimately ended in 2008. He shocked the cricket world with his retirement in May 2018 at an age of 34.

Though ABD has bludgeoned many bowlers with an array of shots, he couldn't sustain the form in England, scoring just a single century, although he has 47 international centuries in his career.

#3: Brian Lara, West Indies

England v West Indies Test Series Launch
Only cricketer to score a quintuple century in the history of First-Class cricket

Whenever we hear the name Brian Lara, the first and foremost record that comes to our mind is the quadruple century (400*) scored by him. Lara is one of the technically perfect batsmen ever to play this sport.

Getting trained by batting in nets against an elite group of West Indies bowlers, Lara dismantled many oppositions with his accurate timing and placement of shots. He is the only cricketer to score a quintuple century (500) in first-class cricket history.

Though Lara nearly conquered England in their backyard (3 centuries in England), he missed on 6 opportunities at Lord's to register his name on the honours board.

#2: Jacques Kallis, South Africa

South Africa Train X
The greatest allrounder of all time

The South African cricketer is the best all-rounder to have ever played this sport. His 19 years of international cricket for the Proteas has played a major role in South Africa's redemption since its re-admission to cricket in 1992.

In 617 innings, Kallis has scored a whopping 25534 runs at an overall average of 49.10 with 62 centuries in international cricket. In the bowling department, Kallis scalped 577 wickets, a record which many mainstream bowlers failed to breach.

Unfortunately, Kallis couldn't get his name registered in the honours board, which goes down as one of the petty records which he missed to achieve.

#1: Sachin Tendulkar, India

India v Pakistan - ICC Champions Trophy
Sachin Tendulkar- Cricket's greatest student

Considered as the 'Greatest Batsmen of All Time', Sachin has dominated all of his opponents across different formats, which is why he is renowned as 'God of Cricket'.

In his prolonged career, Sachin played 664 international matches and scored a whopping 34357 runs across several international venues in the world. With 164 half-centuries and 100 centuries, he undoubtedly tops the list of players with most 50s and 100s.

Though Sachin has scored 100 centuries across all formats of the game at different venues, he, unfortunately, failed to score a hundred in one of the most iconic venues around the world.

Sachin travelled to England on several occasions, but he didn't even cross the 50-run mark at Lord's with a mere high score of 34.
