Shane Watson will be keen to maintain his form for the Gladiators

The Bangla Tigers will begin their 2019 Abu Dhabi T10 League campaign when they face off against the Deccan Gladiators in Match 4 of the competition at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

The Gladiators will be coming into this match on the back of a 7-wicket loss to the Delhi Bulls in their season opener, as despite skipper Shane Watson's unbeaten 31-ball 57, the Gladiators' bowlers leaked too many runs in the death overs to hand a victory to the Bulls.

The Tigers, set to begin their campaign against the Gladiators will be led by Sri Lankan all-rounder Thisara Perera, with the squad featuring quite a big South African contingent comprising of the likes of Rilee Rossouw, David Wiese, Robbie Frylinck and Colin Ingram.

Liam Plunkett and Frylinck will need to be at their best to restrict Watson and Anton Devcich from putting on yet another partnership, while Qais Ahmed could be backed to trouble the batsmen with his variations.

With the Tigers' powerful batting lineup set to square off against the Gladiators' relatively inexperienced bowling unit, it remains to be seen if the latter can regain their mojo to challenge their opponents, and in the process strengthen the Gladiators' chances of picking up an important win.

Predicted XIs

Deccan Gladiators

Shane Watson's half-century and his 85-run stand with Anton Devcich did help the Gladiators put up 102 on the board against the Bulls, but they will be hoping to accelerate a lot more in the slog overs. On the bowling front, Zahir Khan was the pick of the bowlers with 3/17 from his overs on a day when Mason Crane and Ben Cutting were taken to the cleaners.

However, given that they have played just the one game, expect the Gladiators to remain unchanged for this encounter.

Probable XI: Shane Watson (C), Mohammad Shahzad (WK), Anton Devcich, Dan Lawrence, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Ben Cutting, Fawad Ahmed, Migael Pretorius, Mason Crane, Zahir Khan, Zahoor Khan.

Bangla Tigers

The Tigers certainly have some quality big-hitters in their ranks, and the onus will be on the likes of Rossouw, Fletcher and Ingram to get them to a big score. On the bowling front, Frylinck has been in some great form in recent times, and he will be key alongside Liam Plunkett.

Probable XI: Andre Fletcher (WK), Rilee Rossouw, Colin Ingram, Tom Moores, Shehan Jayasuriya, Thisara Perera (C), David Wiese, Robbie Frylinck, Liam Plunkett, Qais Ahmed, Farhad Reza.

Match Prediction

The Gladiators' batting performance was all about Watson and Devcich carrying them over the 10-over mark, although they might have thought they were 10-15 runs short in the end. However, more importantly, the bowlers were wayward with the line and length, and will certainly need to improve.

The Tigers have some quality big-hitters in their side and will certainly pose a stiff challenge to the Gladiators' bowling lineup in this game.

Bangla Tigers could be expected to win this match.
