A stunning knock by Virat Kohli took the game away from Bangladesh

The 2014 Asia Cup clash between India and Bangladesh in Fatullah is a memorable one for Virat Kohli. The Mahendra Singh Dhoni era came to an end in the previous year and Kohli knew he had huge boots to fill. Winning the toss, Kohli elected to bat and Mohammed Shami sent Shamsur Rahman back to the dressing room early on.

Mominul Haque didn't last long as well, but then came a great partnership between Anamul Haque Bijoy and Mushfiqur Rahim. While the former scored 77, Rahim scored 117 in just 113 balls, banking on which Bangladesh posted a mammoth total of 279. Chasing 280 at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium is always tough, and it was made tougher when Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan got out just after crossing the 50-run mark.

It called for something special and Kohli came to India's rescue as he always does nowadays. A remarkable innings of 136 runs from 122 deliveries was well supported by Ajinkya Rahane's 73 from 83 deliveries. India finished the game, which once looked slightly inclined towards Bangladesh, with an over to spare.

Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakib Al Hasan won the match for Bangladesh out of nowhere

For the Bangladeshi fans, the Asia Cup clash against India at Dhaka in 2012 is something they will cherish forever. And why shouldn't they? The Boys in Green showed great character to beat a strong Indian side. Winning the toss, Mushfiqur Rahim sent India to bat first.

Gautam Gambhir was dismissed early, but with Virat Kohli on his side, Sachin Tendulkar completed a commendable century. Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni ended the innings with some big blows as India scored 289 runs, something which at that point of time looked beyond Bangladesh's reach.

Praveen Kumar dismissed Nazimuddin in the fifth over to give India the advantage. Fifty-plus scores from Tamim Iqbal, Jahurul Islam and Nasir Hossain kept Bangladesh in the game, but the job was still far from over. Bangladesh now needed to accelerate and Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim went all guns blazing.

Shakib scored 49 runs in just 31 deliveries, while the last nail in the coffin was put by Rahim who scored an unbeaten 46 in just 25 deliveries at an outrageous strike rate of 184. Irfan Pathan and Ashok Dinda leaked runs and failed to pick up any wicket, as Bangladesh celebrated the heroics in their capital city.

MS Dhoni justified his 'best finisher in the world' tag as India lifted the Asia Cup for the sixth time

MS Dhoni's tag of the best finisher in the world has been questioned for quite a few years now, but in the 2016 Asia Cup final at Dhaka, he did justice to his tag. As the trend has been in the matches mentioned in this article, India sent Bangladesh to bat after winning the toss. In a rain-curtailed match, the Mashrafe Mortaza's side managed to put up a fighting total of 120.

Sabbir Rahman scored a slow yet steady unbeaten 32, but the main job was done by Mahmudullah who scored 33 runs from just 13 deliveries. Ashish Nehra and Hardik Pandya saw their deliveries getting smashed all over the park. Chasing 121, Rohit Sharma got out to Al-Amin Hossain after scoring just one run.

Though the required run rate was on the up, Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan's first priority was building a partnership. India could manage only 71 runs from 10 overs and required 50 from the last 5. That called for the shots and the game was cruising towards the visitors before Shikhar Dhawan was dismissed by Taskin Ahmed.

19 runs were required off the last couple of overs and the game looked all set to be boiling down to the very last ball. Dhoni was at the strike while Al-Amin Hossain was the bowler. What happened next was something that has been watched and re-watched many times over the past couple of years by fans of the former Indian skipper. Dhoni hit two sixes and a four in the penultimate over of the game as India lifted the coveted trophy for the sixth time, crushing the hopes of thousands of Bangladeshis present at the stadium mercilessly.
