Bright future ahead

James Faulkner does it again

Australian all-rounder James Faulkner‘s whirlwind 47-ball 69* ensured his team’s recovery from 244-9 to reach a target of 301, set by England in the second One-Day international at the Gabba, and end up with a lead of 2-0 in the five match series.

Australian skipper Micheal Clarke had some words of praise for his player : “He is the new finisher, the new Michael Bevan.”

“He showed he is a wonderful player with loads of talent and he strikes the ball as cleanly as anybody ,he deserves all the credit in the world.”

Faulkner, known for his clean hitting at the death, hit 5 sixes of Ben Stokes‘ bowling. This is not the first time Faulkner has destroyed a bowling attack though. He tamed the Indian attack last year by scoring 64 from 29 balls to get Australia to a target of 304.

Faulkner himself said: “We only had one wicket left and I knew I could do it deep down, but it’s always nice to get the boys over the line.

“Obviously everyone was nervous but it’s just great to win.”

Although comparisons to Bevan might be a little pre-mature at this stage, there is certainly no doubt in the all rounder’s ability.
