Who would you bring back to save England in Australia?

1st Test Match - England v Australia

Back in August, I wrote an article about bringing back an old player to save Australia. However, a little later down the line, it seems the tables have turned and England are in need of an old hero to help them out.

After a dreadful 5-0 loss down under, things aren’t looking too bright either in the country (have you seen our weather!?) or for the England cricket team.

So if it was possible to bring back an old player, who would you bring back? Here are my suggestions:

Sir Ian Botham

Sir Ian Botham

Arguably, one of the best all-rounders England has ever had and his performances in the 1981 Ashes will live in English cricketing history forever.

Andrew Flintoff

England v Australia - npower 2nd Ashes Test: Day Five

Andrew Flintoff

Again, probably one of the best all-rounders England has ever seen and his heroics in the 2005 Ashes are simply unforgetable.

Michael Vaughan

Michael Vaughan of England hits out

Michael Vaughan

A brilliant batsman and also a very good captain.

Bob Willis

1st Test Match - England v India

Bob Willis

A wonderful bowler and in my opinion quite a funny man! He would give the current Aussies something to worry about. Well he may not now but if he could still bowl as well as he did back in the days before I was even born!

Fred Trueman

Sport. Cricket. England. 1956. A portrait of Yorkshire and England fast bowler Fred Trueman.

Fred Trueman

He is considered by some to be one of the best bowlers in the history of cricket. Enough said.

So there you have it. Those were just my suggestions and if we could only bring back one it would be a very hard choice.

Thanks for reading.
