David Warner to play club cricket in Australia

After giving a green signal to Cameron Bancroft, Cricket Australia has given David Warner the go-ahead to play club cricket and will turn up for the Randwick Petersham in the Sydney Premier Cricket Season.

Warner was part of the trio, Bancroft and Steve Smith being the others, to have been banned by Cricket Australia for twelve months following their involvement in the controversial ball-tampering saga in the Test series against South Africa.

Speaking about Warner's new stint, Mike Whitney, an ex-Australia pacer and the current President of Randwick Petersham, said, according to cricket.co.au: "We're delighted to have him. He's one of the best players Australia has had since World War Two. He's been speaking to one of our club officials and he has committed to the first three or four rounds of the season. Why it is only three or four rounds at this stage, I don't know.

"Everyone is excited to have him. He will be great in the changing rooms with younger players", he added.

Earlier part of the Eastern Suburb club, Warner moved to Randwick Petersham in 2013-14 but hasn't been able to represent the team owing to his Australia, as well as Indian Premier League commitments over the years.

Days before the announcement, Bancroft was also cleared to play in Western Australia's Premier Cricket for Willetton.

In a nine-year international career, Warner has, till date, played 74 Tests and 106 ODIs, as well as 70 T20Is for Australia.
