Duncan Fletcher to be spoken to by BCCI officials regarding team performance

Newly-appointed Indian cricket team coach

Duncan Fletcher in trouble?

Amidst the growing calls from former players and fans to relieve Indian cricket team coach Duncan Fletcher off his duties, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to speak to the Zimbabwean during the World T20 in Bangladesh.

According to reports from CNN-IBN, board secretary Sanjay Patel has been asked to make the trip to Bangladesh and hold talks regarding the team’s performance.

On coming back to India, Patel will present a detailed report to BCCI president N. Srinivasan on his discussions with Fletcher.

There were reports earlier that the BCCI is set to review Fletcher’s position post the World T20 event with the scrutiny on the former England coach increasing everyday.

India did not manage to post a single win on tours to South Africa and New Zealand. The team’s woes continued in the sub-continent as well after they lost to Sri Lanka and Pakistan to be knocked out of the Asia Cup. All this means that India have now won only 2 of their last 16 games in all formats.

Former India captains Sunil Gavaskar and Dilip Vengsarkar have both joined the chorus calling for Fletcher’s head and unless India can put in an impressive show during the World T20, Fletcher’s time with the Indian team could well be over.
