#3 India vs England Trentbridge 2007 (73 runs)

The match started with England batting first but there batting could not get going from the start as they were bundled out for 181 runs. Zaheer Khan starred as he took a 4/59 to rattle out the Englishmen.

The match was India's from the start as India in the reply posted 481 runs on the board with the fifties from Laxman, Tendulkar, Jaffer, Karthik and Ganguly. The insurmountable lead did get to England as they batted well in the second innings scoring 355 runs.

The lead turned out to be too much for them despite there captain Michael Vaughn scored a sublime knock of 124 runs. This time around as well the wrecker in chief from India was Zaheer with better figures of 5/75. India with few hiccups chased the target and with it scripted history.

#2 India vs England, Lord's 1986 (134 runs)

It was a memorable victory for India at the home of cricket Lord's. It was the first Test match of the series where England while batting first scored 294 runs in the first innings. Chetan Sharma registered his name on Lord's Honours Board by taking 5/64.

It was on the back of the brilliant knock of 126 not out by Dilip that India took a lead of 47 runs by scoring 341 in the second innings. In reply, England could only score 180 runs all out to set India a target of 134 runs.

It was a tricky chase for India batting in the 4th innings of a Test match. The target while not much seemed a lot more to the Indians after they lost 4 wickets for 78 runs. But, it was a quickfire 23 off 10 balls by Kapil Dev that sealed the deal for India.

#3 India vs England, Oval 1971 (173 runs)

It was the first of its kind and probably the most cherished victory of them all. India defeated England for the first time in its small but eventful 39 years history. The match started as any other test match with England notching up 355 in the first innings.

This was followed by India's reply to the total by posting 284 all out on the back of Sardesai and Farokh Engineer's fifties. It was the 3rd innings where the history was being written as England collapsed to 101 due to B Chandrasekhar 6/38.

It set India a stiff chase of 173 runs in 4th innings which India somehow managed to overcome on the back of a top score of 45 from the skipper Ajit Wadekar's blade. He was equally supported by Sardesai and Vishwanath to see India home.
