By winning the first ODI against Australia by 6 wickets at Hyderabad on 2nd March 2019, India registered their 499th win in the ODI format.

With 4 matches remaining in the ODI series against Australia at home, India are on the verge of registering their 500th win in the format. The second match of the series is set to take place on March 5th in Nagpur.

India made their ODI debut on 13th July 1974. Since then, they have played 962 matches so far. They have registered 499 wins, 414 losses, 9 tied and 40 no results.

India have participated in all 12 World Cups so far. In 1983, they became champions for the first time under the captaincy of Kapil Dev after defeating a strong West Indies side in the final. Under the captaincy of Sourav Ganguly, the Men in Blue reached the final of the 2003 World Cup held in South Africa.

After 28 years, under the captaincy of MS Dhoni, India won their second World Cup title by beating Sri Lanka in the final at Wankhede Stadium in 2011. They have played a total of 75 matches in World Cup history, with 46 wins, 27 losses, 1 tied and 1 no result.

The Indian team had great success in Champions Trophy history. Under the captaincy of Sourav Ganguly, the Men in Blue became joint Champions with Sri Lanka in 2002. In 2013, India became the champions by beating England when MS Dhoni was the captain of the team.

In 2017, India were the runners-up after losing to arch-rivals Pakistan in the final. The Men in Blue have played 27 matches in Champions Trophy history with 17 wins, 8 losses and 2 without a result.

Under the captaincy of MS Dhoni, India won their first-ever ODI tri-series on Australian soil in 2008 when they clinched the Commonwealth Bank series. In 2009, they won their maiden ODI series on New Zealand soil.

The Indian cricket team's performance in ODI cricket against all full member nations have been quite impressive. In ODI cricket, Rohit Sharma is the only batsmen to score 3 double centuries. Apart from Rohit Sharma, Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar are other Indians to make double tons in the 50-over format.

India have played 99 ODI matches against England with 53 wins, 41 losses, 2 tied and 3 no results with a win percentage of 56.25. However, their record against Australia in the ODI format is not that impressive as they have played 132 matches with 48 wins, 74 losses and 10 no results with a win percentage of 39.34.

The Men in Blue have played 35 ODIs against Bangladesh with 29 wins, 5 losses and 1 no result with a win percentage of 85.29.

The Indian team's performance against arch-rivals Pakistan in World Cup history has been great with all matches won by the Men in Blue.

In a span of 22 years, India are the only team to score 300 plus runs in ODIs. They have done so on 101 times. Also, they are second on the list with 5 totals in excess of 400.

Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni are the Indian players to feature in the list of batsmen with more than 10,000 runs in the ODI format. While on the bowling front, Anil Kumble leads the charge with 334 wickets.
