Post the Test series against South Africa, India will shift their focus to the shortest format of the game as they will lock horns with Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series, with the first T20I set to be contested at Delhi on November 3rd.

India do have an upper hand against Bangladesh, but can ill afford to take their neighbours lightly, as Bangladesh have named a strong side for the series by including the likes of Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal in the squad.

With respect to the Indian team, if reports are to be believed, the team will be without its regular captain Virat Kohli, who might be granted a much-needed break. Injuries to Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah will see the duo miss out from this series and with a number of high-profile stars missing out, this series will present an opportunity to fringe players to put in good performances and put their hat in the ring for a place in next year's World T20 squad.

On that note, here is India's probable squad for the T20I series against Bangladesh.

Top order

Rohit Sharma (C), Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul

Rohit Sharma could lead the side in Kohli's absence

In the absence of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma will in all probability lead the side against Bangladesh. Rohit has extended his purple patch into the longest format of the game, and with form on his side, he will be keen on making an impression against Bangladesh.

Alongside Rohit, despite poor form with the bat, Shikhar Dhawan is expected to keep his place in the side. However, Dhawan will undoubtedly face the pressure of needing to score a whole lot of runs with KL Rahul waiting to re-claim his spot at the top.

Rahul hasn't been able to break into the playing XI as an opener, but with Kohli set to miss out from the series, Rahul could be slotted in to play at the No.3 position.

Middle-order

Manish Pandey, Shreyas Iyer, Sanju Samson, Rishabh Pant

Manish Pandey and Shreyas Iyer will be keen to make the most of the opportunities that they could get in the middle order. Iyer has done well in ODIs but hasn't been given adequate chances in the T20s. On the other hand, this could be the make or break series for Pandey, and given that he will be coming off a fine run of form from the Vijay Hazare Trophy, he could be one to watch out for.

Yet another youngster who will need to put up a good show is the exuberant Rishabh Pant. Pant has been heavily criticised for his poor shot selection, and will be under the pump throughout the T20 series, more so if Sanju Samson is included in the side as the back-up wicket-keeper.

Sanju, for his part, has done no wrong in rightfully earning a spot in the side. Fresh from a stunning double-century in the Vijay Hazare trophy, Samson might finally get his opportunity in national colours.

All-rounders

Krunal Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Shivam Dube

Krunal Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja will be India's front-line all-rounders in the series against Bangladesh. While Krunal is slowly finding his groove in international cricket, Jadeja has been in tremendous form across formats off late.

Having said that, Bangladesh batsmen are considered to be good players of spin bowling, and it will be interesting to see how the two left-arm spinners make an impact in this series. The duo will also need to contribute with the bat in the lower-order to make up for the absence of Hardik Pandya, who's absence could prove to be an opening for Shivam Dube to come into the side.

The Mumbai-based all-rounder has been putting in consistent performances in the domestic cricket and could be handed a spot in the squad, with his big-hitting abilities in addition to his crafty medium pace adding an extra dimension to the side.

Spinners

Washington Sundar, Rahul Chahar

Washington Sundar and Rahul Chahar are likely to keep Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal out of the T20 side for a little longer, as they are set to keep their places in the squad.

Washington Sundar has been extremely impressive with the ball in the limited opportunities that he has received. The Tamil Nadu off-spinner has been mighty effective with the new ball and has been able to keep the scoring rates down with tight lines in the powerplay overs, which makes him a strong contender for a place in the playing XI.

Even though Rahul Chahar did not get a single game in the series against South Africa, he has had a great year or so, and with his variations working well in the domestic circuit, he could land his debut game in this series.

Fast bowlers

Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Navdeep Saini, Deepak Chahar

Bhuvneshwar Kumar could be back to lead the attack

After being rested for the series against South Africa, Bhuvneshwar Kumar is set to make a comeback against Bangladesh. Kumar has been one of India's best bowlers in the limited-overs format and will lead the attack in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah.

Along with Kumar, Deepak Chahar could be expected to share the new ball. The Rajasthan speedster has bowled well upfront, swinging it both ways consistently, and he will form a deadly combination with Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Navdeep Saini is likely to be the third seamer in the side. Saini has troubled the opposition batsmen with his raw pace and is one pacer who can be expected to make the most of the pace and bounce on offer.

India's probable squad

Rohit Sharma (c), Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul, Manish Pandey, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Sanju Samson, Krunal Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, Rahul Chahar, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Deepak Chahar, Navdeep Saini.
