The Indian Premier League is just four days away and all the teams are fighting it out hard to dominate the next two months of cricket in the scorching Indian summer. The upcoming edition of IPL promises to be a big affair.

IPL has been a pool of records. In its long history of ten years, IPL has witnessed many records being broken. Thus, let us have a look at five IPL records that are expected to be shattered by the end of the season.

#5 Most stumpings in the history of the league

When it comes to stumpings, MS Dhoni is the ultimate boss. But the story is different in IPL as Robin Uthappa leads the chart of most stumpings in the history of the league. Affecting 32 stumpings, Robin takes the first place in the list.

The prime reason why MS Dhoni doesn't top the list is that in the first season of IPL, many times, Parthiv Patel used to keep wickets instead of MS Dhoni. However, with the possibility of Dinesh Karthik keeping the wickets for KKR this year, MS Dhoni might break the record.

Currently, MS Dhoni stands second on the list with 30 IPL stumpings. While Dinesh Karthik (26), Wriddhiman Saha (17), and Adam Gilchrist (16) take the third, fourth, and fifth spot respectively.

Contenders who can break the record: As of now, only MS Dhoni seems the strong contender. However, considering Karthik's reputation, we cannot sideline him either.

#4 Most IPL centuries

Virat Kohli: The king of centuries

Chris Gayle holds the record of most centuries in the history of IPL. The Jamaican captures the first place in the list with five IPL centuries in his bank. However, with Chris Gayle not in great form, the record is expected to be broken in the upcoming edition of IPL.

Virat Kohli acquires the second place in the list with four IPL centuries to his name. While David Warner (3), AB de Villiers (3), and Brendon McCullum (2) fill in the third, fourth, and fifth place respectively.

Contenders who can break the record: Well, for the time being, Virat Kohli seems the only legit contender who can break the record.

#3 Most wickets in IPL

Slinga Malinga!

The right-arm fast bowler from Srilanka, Lasith Malinga, is the highest wicket-taker in the history of IPL. Malinga tops the table with 154 IPL wickets to his name from 110 matches.

This time around, we will see Malinga as the coaching staff instead of a fast bowler who rips through the batsman gruesomely. Thus, with the absence of Malinga, the record of most wickets in IPL might get broken in the upcoming league of IPL.

Amit Mishra holds the second place on the list with 134 IPL wickets. While Harbhajan Singh (127 wickets), Piyush Chawla (126 wickets), and Dwayne Bravo (122 wickets) take the third, fourth, and fifth position on the list respectively.

Contenders who can break the record: Amit Mishra, Harbhajan Singh, Piyush Chawla, and Dwayne Bravo.

#2 Most runs in IPL

Suresh Raina: Mr. IPL

Suresh Raina often touted as Mr. IPL, dons the record of most runs in the history of IPL. Raina, with 4540 IPL runs, acquires the first place in the list.

With Suresh Raina in excellent form, this record expects to be an uphill task to be broken. However, with top batsmen like Kohli and Rohit playing in the league, we can't rule it out.

Virat Kohli stands second on the list with 4418 IPL runs to his name. While Rohit Sharma (4207), Gautam Gambhir (4132), and David Warner (4014) acquire the third, fourth, and fifth position in the list respectively.

Contenders who can break the record: Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

#1 Most fifties in the history of the league

Gautam Gambhir: Sultan of fifties
Gautam Gambhir: Sultan of fifties

Currently, David Warner holds the record of most fifties in the history of IPL. Warner leads the chart with 36 IPL fifties to his name from 114 IPL matches. Warner has been one of the best openers in the history of IPL.

However, with his exclusion from the 11th edition of IPL due to the recent Sandpaper Gate, the record demands to broken in the forthcoming edition of IPL. Thus, with plenty of quality batsmen in the league, it seems to be a cakewalk.

Gautam Gambhir stands second on the list with 35 fifties to his name. While Rohit Sharma (32 fifties), Suresh Raina (31 fifties), and Virat Kohli (30 fifties) take the third, fourth, and fifth position in the list respectively.

Contenders who can break the record: Gautam Gambhir, Rohit Sharma, Suresh Raina, and Virat Kohli.
