With just five months left for IPL 13, the teams are gearing up to put together the best possible squad. The auction for the next edition of the IPL is set to take place on 19 December in Kolkata, and all the franchises are going to be very busy that day.

Trent Bolt, the New Zealand left-arm pacer, has been traded from Delhi Capitals to Mumbai Indians. The four-time IPL champions have received a gigantic boost for their bowling line-up, which already consists of lethal strike bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah, Latish Malinga, and Mitchell McClenaghan.

Delhi Capitals, on the other hand, still have the likes of Ishant Sharma, Kagiso Rabada and Avesh Khan. However, the franchise would love to get an international fast bowler to replace Boult.

The Kiwi international played the last two seasons for Delhi Capitals, taking a total of 23 wickets. While Boult took 14 wickets in 2018, he managed five last season, playing only five matches.

Here, we look at three international fast bowlers Delhi Capitals could buy at the next IPL auction after releasing Boult.

#3 Anrich Nortje

South Africa's Anrich Nortje is one of the most promising fast bowlers in the world today, making him a top choice to replace Boult. Nortje possesses a serious threat with his pace, and he is capable of touching 150kmph on a regular basis.

The 25-year-old made his international debut this year, playing his first international T20 match against India a couple of months ago. Nortje is yet to play a match in IPL, but he was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders at the auction last year.

After suffering a shoulder injury, Nortje was ruled out of the tournament. Having missed out on an opportunity of playing in the IPL, he will be aiming to make his debut in the cash-rich league. And Delhi Capitals could be a great destination for the highly-rated South African.

#2 Pat Cummins

Known as one of the best fast bowlers of this era, Pat Cummins would be the perfect candidate to bolster the Delhi Capitals bowling lineup. Besides bowling at a good pace, Cummins has accurate line and length too, making him a serious threat in any format of the game. Moreover, Cummins is also a handy batsman, and can add useful runs in the lower order.

The 26-year-old has been the backbone of the Australian bowling attack for the past couple of years in every format. Having played 25 T20 international matches for the Men in Yellow, Cummins has taken 32 wickets at an average of 20.12. The Aussie quick also has 96 wickets in 58 ODI matches and a staggering 123 wickets in 25 Test matches.

Cummins was the highest wicket-taker for Australia in the recently concluded Ashes series, taking a total of 29 wickets.

He has already played for the Delhi franchise, back in 2017, when the team was known as Delhi Daredevils. He took a total of 15 wickets at an impressive average of 18.46 in his first stint.

If Delhi Capitals could rope in Cummins their bowling line-up could become seriously lethal, considering they already have Kagiso Rabada.

#1 Sam Curran

Sam Curran, one of the most exciting young talents in English cricket, could be a good replacement for Trent Boult considering his ability to swing the ball. The left-arm seamer might not be the fastest bowler on the pitch, but he has good control over his line and length. A bowling all-rounder, Curran can play some big knocks with the bat as well.

The 21-year-old made his international debut last year, playing his first Test match against Pakistan. Curran eventually made his ODI and T20 debuts for England in the same year.

He captured the attention of the cricket world by delivering an eye-catching performance against India last year. Taking 11 wickets and scoring 272 runs, Curran was adjusted Man of the Series against India.

After making a reputation for himself in international cricket, Curran was bought by Kings XI Punjab last season. The youngster did a fair bit of justice to his big price tag, taking 10 wickets in 9 matches, including a hat-trick.

But the Punjab franchise recently released Curran, and Delhi Capitals will get a chance to buy the talented English player at the upcoming auction.
