The trading window for IPL 2020 has closed. While all the teams have tried to retain their core, a lot of misfits have been released by the franchises.

As always, Royal Challengers Bangalore have released a lot of players and will look to the IPL auction scheduled on 19 December 2019 to fill the gaps left by the released players.

RCB are a very well-followed team, but IPL success has eluded them so far. Despite having superstars like Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers in their ranks, they are yet to crack the winning formula.

The IPL auction gives them another opportunity to put together a team capable of delivering the ultimate prize, the IPL trophy. Here, we take a look at three players that RCB should target to strengthen their squad.

#3 Aaron Finch

Ever since the departure of 'Universe Boss' Chris Gayle, the batting responsibilities at RCB have fallen entirely on Kohli and De Villiers. Although both of them are exceptional players, it is unfair to expect only two batsman to carry the load of the entire team for the entire season.

Signing a player like Aaron Finch has multiple advantages. For one thing, he has the ability to provide brisk starts and get the team off to a flyer. Secondly, his vast experience not only as a player but also as Australia's T20 captain would help Kohli in key decision-making process in crunch moments of the game.

Lastly, having Finch at the top would enable Kohli to drop to No. 3, where he is best suited. The Indian captain can then anchor the innings without compromising on the quality at the top.

#2 Robin Uthappa

One particular area about RCB that has been criticized a lot is their lack of domestic Karnataka players in the squad. It is somewhat surprising that RCB have not picked more local players given Karnataka's exceptional domestic record in the last decade or so.

Moreover, they let go one of the best Karnataka players they had in KL Rahul.

Now, RCB have the option of picking one of Karnataka's stalwarts this auction. Robin Uthappa has been released by KKR this season after a fruitful association with the franchise which saw the stylish right-hander win the Orange Cap in IPL 2014 and two IPL titles.

Although Uthappa is past his prime, he will bring title-winning experience with him. And he will certainly be considered an upgrade to Parthiv Patel in terms of batting prowess.

#1 Chris Jordan

Death bowling has been RCB's Achilles' heel for more than a decade now. And it's not that they have not tried to fix the long-standing issue.

They splashed the cash for Mitchell Starc, but injuries never allowed the Aussie speedster to give his best in the IPL. RCB paid a fortune for Tymal Mills, but he proved to be a false hope.

There is one bowler though that can help RCB resolve their death bowling woes. And surprisingly enough, he was part of the RCB side back in IPL 2016 when they reached the finals.

We are talking about England's Chris Jordan. Jordan is a very under-rated death bowler who has the ability to bowl yorkers at will. He is an amazing fielder too and can tonk a few lusty blows with the bat.

Jordan is a complete T20 package. Recently, he bowled a splendid Super Over for England to win a tied T20 encounter against New Zealand.

We will have to wait and see whether RCB pick any of these three players at the auction, and finally deliver the long-awaited IPL trophy to their wonderful fans.
