The players' auction for IPL 2020 is going to be held on the 19th December in Kolkata. Before the auction begins, each franchise was given a trading window to allow them trade players with other teams, before it closed on 14th November.

Over the years, we have seen quite a few players move from one team to another during the window, and it was no different this year. Some big players have moved on from one franchise to another. Let us look at the teams who have been actively trading their players in the current trading window.

Do note that Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Royal Challengers Bangalore have not traded any players.

#1 Delhi Capitals

The Delhi Capitals had a very successful IPL 2019. The team managed to finish 3rd in the league table and was one of the most consistent teams throughout the tournament. However, this time they would want to go further and win their first IPL title.

The Delhi Capitals were the most active team during the trading window. They have managed to purchase the services of Indian International Ravichandran Ashwin from Kings XI Punjab. The move can prove to be a very smart one for Delhi as their home ground is known to be slow and help the spinners. R. Ashwin is one of the best spinners around and can help Delhi exploit their home conditions.

In return of R. Ashwin, Delhi Capitals gave away Jagadeesha Sucith to the Kings XI Punjab.

The Delhi based franchise has traded out Trent Boult and Sherfane Rutherford to Mumbai.

Delhi has also acquired the services of opener Ajinkya Rahane from the Rajasthan Royals. In return, they have given away Rahul Tewatia and Mayank Markande to the Royals.

#2 Mumbai Indians

The four-time IPL champions have one of the most settled and balanced squads in the tournament. Over the years Mumbai Indians have been known to be very active during the trading window. Before IPL 2019, Mumbai traded in Quinton de Kock from Royal Challengers Bangalore. Trading in De Kock proved to be a masterstroke as the left-handed batsman went on to become one of the highest scorers for the team.

This time around, Mumbai Indians have acquired the services of West Indian all-rounder Sherfane Rutherford from the Delhi Capitals. In return, they have traded spinner Mayank Markande to the Delhi Capitals (who has since moved to the Rajasthan Royals). Rutherford can be a very good backup option for Kieron Pollard.

Mumbai has also signed Trent Boult from the Delhi capitals, along with Dhawal Kulkarni from the Rajasthan Royals.

The Mumbai based franchise has also transferred out Siddhesh Lad to the Kolkata Knight Riders.

#3 Kings XI Punjab

Kings XI Punjab had a very poor IPL 2019. The team once again failed to live up to the expectations of the fans and finished at the 6th spot. The Punjab-based franchise appointed R. Ashwin in 2018 as their new captain with the hope of turning things around. However, Ashwin failed to bring about major changes as Kings XI failed to qualify for the playoffs two seasons in a row.

Rumours were floating around that Ashwin felt unsettled in the team and the players were not happy with his captaincy. The rumours were confirmed when King XI Punjab decided to release Aswhin and trade him out to the Delhi Capitals, in exchange for Jagadeesha Sucith and some additional funds.

Lokesh Rahul is expected to lead the team in IPL 2020. As far as the in coming players are concerned, Punjab has signed Krishnappa Gowtham from the Rajasthan Royals. In return, Punjab have traded out Ankit Rajpoot to the Rajasthan Royals

#4 Kolkata Knight Riders

Over the years, KKR has not been very active in the trading window and it was the same this time around. The Knight Riders have, nonetheless, traded in Siddhesh Lad from the Mumbai Indians.

It is unlikely that Lad will get to play regularly. However, he can prove to be a very good backup option for top-order batsman Shubhman Gill.
