The Rajasthan Royals lost to the Kings XI Punjab by 14 runs after throwing away a match laced with twists and turns along with major talking points. Punjab had a shaky start after losing KL Rahul early but Chris Gayle settled down before going ballistic. His knock of 79 off 47 balls powered Punjab to a total of 184/4.
Jos Buttler and Ajinkya Rahane were on the Punjab bowlers right from the start and scored 64 runs in the power play without losing a wicket. Ashwin then came in picked up the wicket of Rahane but there was no one from the other end to support him. Buttler looked simply unstoppable before Ashwin mankaded him and this completely turned the match upside down.
Smith and Samson seemed like they had restored parity but when both of them fell in quick succession due to some good fielding, RR lost a flurry of wickets and the run chase which was theirs slipped way from their grasp. They finished with 170/9 in 20 overs falling short in the end.

Post Mayank's dismissal, Gayle accelerated and smashed Unadkat to all parts of the ground and attacked Stokes too before the Englishman dismissed him.
Buttler could've overtaken him to become the highest points scorer but him getting run out in a controversial manner prevented that from happening.
