The motto that is being sculpted in the Indian Premier League trophy is "Yatra Pratibha Avsara Prapnotihi", which means "Where talent meets opportunity”. True to its motto, the league has provided a great platform for players to showcase their talent. Franchises go all out to find the next breakout star of Indian cricket by appointing talent scouting teams.

Former India coach John Wright was appointed as the coach of Mumbai Indians in 2013 and well before the auctions, he was traveling the country scouting for some raw talent. He found a bowler with an unusual action creating raw pace in a short run up bowling some accurate Yorkers.

In fact, he spoke highly of this talent in an interview to Bangalore Mirror before auctions. They signed him in the auctions and his name is Jasprit Bumrah. He showed his composure in his debut match as he dismissed Virat Kohli after conceding three boundaries in the same over.

The Gujarat lad has grown leaps and bounds as he now leads the Indian pace battery. So let us have a look at his top four spells in the Indian Premier League that helped him grow.

#4 Super Over seals it for Mumbai Indians Vs Gujarat Lions - 2017

This match is a classic case of the talent that Bumrah has as he won the match despite having an ordinary day. In the 35th match of the season, Gujarat batted first, scoring 154 on a slow wicket.

Krunal Pandya (3/14) used the slowness well and Lasith Malinga (2/33) with his usual Yorkers & off-cutters made life difficult for the batsman. Burmah picked up the key wicket of Suresh Raina in the powerplay and came back at the death to dismiss James Faulkner. Bumrah wasn't accurate in his spell as he bowled two no balls.

A run-out in the last ball took the match to the super over. Despite an off-day Bumrah was chosen to bowl the super over ahead of ever-dependable Lasith Malinga. Defending 12 runs, he conceded just six runs as he deceived Aaron Finch & Brendon McCullum with his slow & fast yorkers.

It was a test of his temperament in the death overs, as he came back after bowling a wide and a no-ball in the first two balls of the super over to take his team to victory.

#3 3-1-7-3 to take Mumbai to IPL 2017 final vs Kolkata Knight Riders in Qualifier 2

After losing to Rising Pune Supergiant for the third time in the season in Qualifier 1, Mumbai Indians were determined to win the second qualifier against the Kolkata Knight Riders and it was their lead pacer Jasprit Bumrah who produced a match-winning spell.

Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to field first. For the first time in the season, Bumrah was given the new ball and he repaid the faith of his captain by picking the dangerous Chris Lynn in his first over.

He bowled a maiden in the last over of the powerplay which included a fast in-dipper from wide of the crease to dismiss Robin Uthappa. He came back at the death to remove the top scorer of the innings Suryakumar Yadav and restricted KKR to 107. Mumbai qualified to their fourth final as they chased the target with 33 balls to spare.

#2 Bumrah helps Mumbai win their third IPL

Mumbai Indians faced Rising Pune Supergiant in the finals of the 2017 edition. Mumbai were the firm favourites going into the finals because of the balance of their squad. Mumbai won the toss and chose to bat and had a horrible start as they lost their openers with just 8 runs on the board.

They kept losing wickets and could score only 129 on the big day. Pune were off to a sedate start, scoring 14 of the first two overs. Bumrah came into the attack and picked up the consistent Rahul Tripathi, who has been scoring briskly in the powerplay, for just three.

With 33 needed off 24 balls and 8 wickets in hand with MS Dhoni & Steve Smith at the crease, Mumbai needed a miracle to win. It was Bumrah who provided the magic by dismissing Dhoni. That set a panic among batsman as the run-rate increased. The decision to give death bowling duties to him ahead of the experienced duo of Malinga & Johnson also helped Mumbai win their third IPL crown.

Mumbai Indians faced Kings XI Punjab in a must-win game for both teams in the 2018 season of Indian Premier League. On the backdrop of Kieron Pollard's 22 balls 50, Mumbai romped up 186 in 20 overs. With a daunting task ahead, Punjab openers Chris Gayle & KL Rahul started off slowly against Bumrah scoring just a single off his first over.

But KL Rahul & Aaron Finch put on a century partnership and smashed Mumbai bowlers all around the Wankhede. Bumrah came back in the 17th over and broke 111 run partnership by dismissing Finch for 45. He came up with a fast bouncer and sent Marcus Stoinis to the dressing room in the same over.

He then gave the telling blow of the match as he out-foxed Rahul with a slower one in the penultimate over and helped Mumbai stay alive in the tournament. In his final spell, he picked up three wickets while giving away just 10 runs. His economy rate in the match was just 3.75 while the next best was 9.
