KPL Auction 2019

The Karnataka Premier League auction for the 2019 season saw the seven franchises having some intense battle to get the top players. The KPL teams had a cap of Rs 30 lakhs to make up their combination of 18 players. A total of 237 players went under the hammer. There were 35 players from Pool A while the rest were from Pool B.


Batsman Pavan Deshpande emerged as the most expensive player of KPL auction 2019. He was bought by Shivamogga Lions for Rs. 7.3 lakh. Aniruddha Joshi was the second most expensive player. The off-spinner was bought for Rs 7.1 lakh by Mysuru Warriors. Both Pavan and Aniruddha belonged to Pool A of the KPL auction. Jonathan Rongsen was the highest-paid player from Pool B, He was bought for Rs 6 lakh by Bengaluru Blasters.

Some prominent players like Karun Nair and Shreyas Gopal went unsold due to their possible domestic and international commitments. This time, the teams have the option of replacing a player who gets picked to play Duleep Trophy by a player from the auction list. They will be compensated on a pro-rata basis.
