In one of his interviews, KL Rahul revealed that his father was a huge fan of Gundappa Vishwanath and Sunil Gavaskar. While watching a match, Dr. KN Lokesh heard that Sunil’s son’s name was Rohan. However, he somehow heard it as Rahul and then named his son Rahul.

KL Rahul is very close to his mother, Rajeshwari. She was a professor at Mangalore University. In one of his tweets, he labeled her as a Super Mom. Although Rahul is one of the most successful cricketers in the country, his mother is still unhappy that he does not have an engineering certificate.

During his appearance on Koffee With Karan, KL Rahul said:

“My mum still gives me grief that she doesn’t have an engineering certificate on the wall. And I tell her that I play for the country and you’re still worried. I got a job with the Reserve Bank of India recently, a couple of years ago. That’s when they were the happiest. Not when I got 100s, not when I won games for the country. They are happy but the happiest they have been is when I got a job, a stable job.”

Who is KL Rahul's Wife?

The hotshot Indian cricketer got married to his girlfriend Athiya Shetty on 23rd January 2023. Already quite popular amongst the netizens, Athiya is a Bollywood actress and also the daughter of actor Suniel Shetty. She made her debut with the 2015 release Hero, alongside Sooraj Pancholi. The actress has done four movies as of now, which include Mubarakan (2017), Nawabzaade (2018), and her most recent film Motichoor Chaknachoor (2019).

Athiya started dating Rahul somewhere around 2019 and the two were often seen and captured together by the paparazzi. The duo posted several cute pictures of themselves at the time they were dating. Athiya and Suniel Shetty were often seen supporting Rahul from the stands during his matches.

They finally got wedded the previous month on the 23rd of January 2023. The functions of the marriage began on 21st January. The whole ceremony which was held at Suniel Shetty’s farmhouse in Khandala was kept pretty private.

Post the wedding, Suniel Shetty and his son Ahan Shetty greeted the media and announced Rahul and Athya’s news of pairing in the holy bond of marriage.
