Virat Kohli is an ODI giant; his consistency in the format is unfathomable. Virat showed the world why he is the best in the world when it comes to ODI batting.

Virat started the series by scoring 112 in Durban while chasing South Africa's 270. He had a massive partnership with Rahane and the duo helped India chase down the target in 45 overs. He scored an unbeaten 46 when India chased down a paltry target of 123 in 21 overs. Virat continued his rich vein of form in Centurion when he scored 160 off 159 balls and bolstered India to 303 and they eventually won by 124 runs.

After scoring a 75 which came in a losing cause, Virat scored 36 runs and played a supporting role to Rohit Sharma's 115 which helped India win the series. Virat signed off the series with an aggressive 129 from 93 balls to end the series with a world record aggregate of 558 runs at a Bradmanesque average of 186.

Virat Kohli is a phenomenon who gets better with every passing day. The most popular cricketer on the planet, Virat has created and broken several records playing for RCB. Virat is the face of the franchise and adopts a brand of cricket which is entertaining and enthralling at the same time.

Virat has scored 4948 runs in IPL and stands second on the list, just 37 runs short of Suresh Raina. He has also scored 500+ runs in 5 IPL seasons starting with 2011, 2013, 2015, 2016 and 2018. Virat created a world record for scoring the highest number of runs in a single T20 competition with 973 runs and four centuries in 2016.

In spite of all his records, RCB has never been able to taste success in IPL and the trophy seems to be elusive. Kohli's ardent fans will be hoping that 2019 will be a new season where RCB will have the luck on their side to win their maiden IPL.

If there was one place where Virat was not successful as a Test batsman, it was England. He had a horrible run scoring 134 runs in five Tests at an average of 13.4 in 2014. Virat resurrected his batting record in the UK by scoring an amazing 593 runs at an average of 59.3 with two hundreds and three fifties. Had Virat won a couple of tosses or probably got more support from his fellow batsmen, India would have surely triumphed in the series.

Virat broke Brian Lara's record for the fastest to 4000 runs as a captain, where the great man had taken 91 innings to achieve the same milestone. Virat completed 4000 runs as a Test captain in a mere 65 innings to go with his stellar captaincy record. In 43 matches as a Test captain for India, the southpaw has scored 4270 runs at an average of 63.73 with 17 hundreds and nine fifties.

Virat Kohli is on a record-breaking spree in Test cricket. If there are batsmen who are hungry for runs, Virat is a ton-machine who is hungry for centuries. The speed at which he scores centuries is simply unbelievable. He has already garnered 62 International centuries and with every passing game, he is inching close to Sachin Tendulkar's 100 International centuries.

Virat Kohli started the year with a masterly 153 against South Africa in Centurion and followed it up with two classy hundreds against England, a 149 in Edgbaston followed by a 103 in Nottingham on difficult pitches. Virat scored an another hundred against West Indies when he milked the bowling and ended up with 139.

In this process, he became the quickest to 24 hundreds in the modern era after the great Sir Don Bradman in just 123 innings.

#2 Fastest to 10000 ODI runs - 205 innings

It is a great habit to break records, but you break the great Sachin Tendulkar's record then you should be in a different league. This what cricketers, experts and fans feel about Kohli, he is from a different planet.

When he started the Windies ODI series, he was 221 runs short of 10000 ODI runs. However, it just took him just two innings to reach the milestone. He massacred the Windies bowling attack to pieces when he scored 140 in the first ODI at Rajkot and followed it up with an unbeaten 157 off 129 balls in Vizag. The unbelievable fact is he just took 11 innings to complete 1000 runs

Virat completed 10000 runs in a mere 205 innings at an average of 59.62, 54 innings better than the great Sachin Tendulkar who had taken 259 innings to achieve the same milestone.

That's one hell of a record and it won't be broken anytime soon.

#1 2500 International runs in three consecutive years

2500 calendar runs in three consecutive years!!! I really have no words to describe, how big an achievement is that. There have been only 72 instances of batsmen scoring over 2000 runs in a calendar year.

Virat is the only cricketer ever to achieve this milestone out of the 4000+ cricketers to have graced this wonderful game. It is just a testimonial to his sheer hard work, temperament, hunger to succeed and be the best in the world.

Virat scored 2595 International runs at a combined average of 86.50 in 2016 with seven hundreds and 13 fifties. He bettered his own performance in 2017 scoring 2818 International runs at an average of 68.73 with 11 centuries.

In 2018, Virat has already completed 2513 runs in 2018 and has two more Test matches to go in Australia. The world record for most runs in a year is held by Kumar Sangakkara with 2868 runs and it won't be difficult for Kohli to break this record as he needs another 356 runs and he has another four innings to go in this year.
