The IPL has been the premier platform for many Indian cricket players - youngsters and veterans alike - to prove their worth and eventually make it into the limited overs side. Over the years, players have prospered with the opportunities showered.

However, being dismissed for a duck is considered pretty embarrassing and some of the established players who have contributed to major triumphs for their IPL franchise, also have unwanted records by getting the most number of ducks for their respective IPL teams.

Let us take a look at the players with the most number of ducks for each team in the IPL.

#1 Sunrisers Hyderabad - Amit Mishra

One of the most experienced and fascinating wrist spinners in the history of the IPL, Amit Mishra represented the SRH unit from 2013 till the end of the 2014 season. He shined with the ball in both editions with 28 wickets, however, his batting ability was tested on multiple occasions at SRH.

In the two seasons he played for the SRH unit, Mishra was unsatisfactory in the job with the bat, recording 3 ducks. SRH is a team which has been a part of the IPL only for 5 seasons and thus registering 3 ducks makes Mishra the player with highest ducks for SRH.

#2 Rajasthan Royals - Shane Warne

Without any doubt, Shane Warne is probably the best skipper the Rajasthan Royals camp has ever seen. He led RR to their maiden title in the premier edition of the IPL when nobody gave them any chance.

While his exploits with the ball will always be remembered in the IPL circuit, Warne was equally capable of adding some runs in any format of the game. But Warne wasn't at his best while batting in the IPL.

In his three-season spell in the IPL, he registered as many as 7 ducks, which is the highest for any RR player in its history.

#3 Delhi Daredevils - Virender Sehwag

One of the best openers in all formats of the game, Virender Sehwag plied his trade for the Delhi Daredevils in the first six seasons of the IPL, after being named as the icon player for DD in the premier edition of the IPL.

Suresh Raina has been one of the main anchors in the CSK camp over the years. His prowess with the bat at the top of the order is simply outstanding and the fact that he is the tournament's highest run-getter asserts the same.

In spite of boasting of a plethora of records, Raina possesses few records that he will not be very proud of and one of them is having the most number of ducks for the CSK outfit.

In 8 years of IPL with CSK he has 7 ducks, which can easily be ignored for the fact that he remains to be CSK's best batsman.

#5 Royal Challengers Bangalore - Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli's importance to the RCB camp is priceless. The skipper was retained by RCB for a massive 17 crores, thus making him the highest paid player in the history of IPL.

In addition to this, the fact that Kohli has never played for another IPL team highlights the strength and the consistency levels he has showcased for RCB.

Kohli's most memorable season was in 2016 where he amassed a massive 973 runs and RCB finished the season as the runners-up side. However, Kohli who has promoted himself to open the innings in the T20 format has 7 ducks to his name in his records-laden IPL career.

#6 Kings XI Punjab - Glenn Maxwell

The Australian Glenn Maxwell is clearly one of the cleanest strikers of the cricket ball and he is undoubtedly a tailor-made cricketer for the T20 format of the game.

After plying his trade for DD and MI, Maxwell represented KXIP for four editions of the IPL where he went on to become the maverick of the team and was vital in the team's success over the years.

Despite showcasing brutality with the bat, Maxwell has the issue of going missing on many occasions and this has resulted in Maxwell garnering the 'inconsistent' tag. He has 9 ducks in 4 seasons for KXIP and that asserts the same.

#7 Kolkata Knight Riders - Gautam Gambhir

The former KKR skipper has 12 ducks after 7 years of association with KKR.

He is probably one of the best captains in the IPL and led KKR for seven years, which comprised of two IPL trophy hauls as well. The left-hander was the protagonist in the KKR batting order and was renowned for anchoring the innings extremely watchfully.

However, in the 2014 season of the IPL, Gambhir experienced a stern dip in form and went on to register a hat-trick of ducks along with numerous single-digit scores.

In the Kolkata based franchise's history, Gambhir has the most number of ducks with 12 to his name - a staggering number given that he is one of KKR's most successful players.

#8 Mumbai Indians - Harbhajan Singh

Bhajji has a record 14 ducks for MI which is the highest for any IPL team.

'The Turbanator' has been pivotal to Mumbai Indians' success over the last decade and he is the third highest wicket-taker in the history of the IPL. His economy rate of just under 7 runs an over combined with his strike rate of 22.9, underlines the quality he brings to any team that he represents.

However, with the bat, Harbhajan has been a slogger at a strike rate of 142.42 and barring his solitary fifty he doesn't boast of many fascinating knocks. He has 14 ducks in his career and therefore he is not only the man with the number of most ducks for MI but also for any team in the IPL history.
