Pakistan have recalled Ahmed Shehzad for the Twenty20 international series against New Zealand this month.

Opener Shehzad was dropped for the one-day international leg of the tour, which Pakistan trail 2-0 ahead of the third of five matches on Friday, but is welcomed back into the fold for the three T20s.

He regains his spot from Azhar Ali, while the only other change from the ODI squad sees Umar Amin take the place of Imam-ul-Haq.

Imad Wasim remains sidelined due to a knee problem, so all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz holds onto his place.

"Imad Wasim was yet to recover from his knee injury, and was told to continue his rehabilitation at the NCA [National Cricket Academy]. Mohammad Nawaz has been named to replace Imad Wasim," said chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq.

"Sohaib Maqsood was not considered for selection due to back injury, and will undergo rehabilitation at the NCA."

The first T20 will take place at Westpac Stadium in Wellington on January 22.

Pakistan squad: Sarfraz Ahmed (captain, wicketkeeper), Fakhar Zaman, Ahmed Shehzad, Babar Azam, Shoaib Malik, Haris Sohail, Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Nawaz, Shadab Khan, Faheem Ashraf, Aamer Yamin, Mohammad Amir, Hasan Ali, Rumman Raees, Umar Amin.
