Bengal vs Delhi, Pune

Delhi completely outplayed Bengal in the first semifinal of the tournament, winning the match by an innings and 26 runs. Delhi finished day two on 271/3, only 15 runs behind Bengal's first innings score. After removing Gautam Gambhir late in the day yesterday, Mohammed Shami came into his own and picked five more Delhi wickets to end up with figures of 6/122. Delhi though somehow managed to amass a total of 398 runs, courtesy Himmat Singh's 60-runs knock at number five.

Trailing by 112 runs, Bengal would have hoped to bat through day three and majority of the fourth day. However, some effective bowling from Amarjeet Saini and Kulwant Khejroliya ensured Delhi earn an innings win as Bengal were bowled out for a meagre 86. The duo bagged four wickets each while Vikas Tokas got one to take Delhi to the final of this year's Ranji Trophy.

Brief Scores: Delhi 398 (Gambhir 127, Chandela 113, Singh 60, Shami 122/6) beat Bengal 286 & 86 (Saini 4/35, Khejroliya 4/40) by an innings and 26 runs

Karnataka vs Vidarbha, Kolkata

Continuing from their overnight score of 294/8, Karnataka managed to add only seven runs before being bowled out by Vidarbha. Umesh Yadav bagged both the wickets in the morning, that of Vinay Kumar (21) and Karun Nair (153), who was the last wicket to fall. While the Indian international ended up with figures of 73/4, Rajneesh Gurbani was the pick of Vidarbha bowlers with returns of 94 for 5.

In reply, opener Faiz Fazal was removed by Karnataka skipper Vinay Kumar on the second ball of the innings itself. Sanjay Ramaswamy followed him to the pavilion after adding 17 runs to the total. Though Wasim Jaffer looked solid during his 33-run knock, he couldn't go the distance and was the third wicket to fall with the scorecard reading 62. Apoorv Wankhede (49) and Ganesh Satish (71*) then added 88 runs for the fourth wicket before the former departed.

By the end of day's play, Satish was going strong along with Akshay Wadkar (19*), as Vidarbha lead by 79 runs going into the penultimate day.

Brief Scores: Vidarbha 185 & 195/4 (Satish 71*, Arvind Sreenath 2/41) lead Karnataka 301 by 79 runs
