On this very day 15 years back, Ian Harvey scored the first ever century in Twenty20 cricket against Warwickshire at Edgbaston.

Harvey scored his century from just 56 deliveries to help Gloucestershire beat Warwickshire by 8 wickets.

On the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the first ever t20 century, let's take a look at the first ever century in each format of cricket.

#1 First-class: Charles Bannerman

The first ever Test match was held at Melbourne from March 15-19, 1877 at Melbourne between England and Australia.

Australia batted first and Charles Bannerman and Nat Thomson were the very first openers to have graced a cricket pitch.

The first ever ball in Test cricket was bowled by England's Alfred Shaw. Allen Hill took the first wicket in Test cricket after dismissing Thomson.

Australia were losing wickets but Bannerman was batting beautifully, hitting some terrific boundaries.

He stitched a partnership of 77 with Bransby Cooper for the fourth wicket before stitching a partnership of 54 with Jack Blackham for the 7th wicket.

Bannerman reached his century thus becoming the first ever centurion in Test and First-class cricket. He went on to score 165 before retiring hurt. Bannerman hit 18 boundaries en route to his knock. This was Bannerman's only ton in Test and First-class cricket.

Australia's first innings ended at 245 and in reply, England could score only 196 thanks to Billy Midwinter who took the first ever five-wicket haul in Test cricket. Midwinter bowled a spell of 5/78.

In the second innings, Australia were skittled out for 104 with Bannerman scoring only 4. Alfred Shaw took England's first ever five-wicket haul in Tests, bowling a spell of 5/38 from 34 overs.

England had to chase 154 to win but were bundled out for 108 with Tom Kendall bowling a spell of 7/55.

The first ever List-A match was held from May 1-2, 1963 at Old Trafford. It was the preliminary round of the Gillette Cup and Leicestershire was up against Lancashire. Leicestershire won the toss and skipper Maurice Hallam elected to field first.

Brian Booth and Robert Entwistle opened for Lancashire. The pair added 42 runs before Entwistle was hit-wicket by Rodney Pratt for 18. Booth scored the first ever half-century in List-A cricket.

Lancashire lost a couple of quick wickets and were 82/3 when Marner came in to join skipper Ken Grieves. Marner batted beautifully while Grieves contributed well. The pair added 136 for the fourth wicket before Grieves was dismissed for 57.

Marner went on to score the first century in List-A cricket and scored 121 before being dism. This was to be his only century in List-A cricket. Lancashire's innings ended at 304/9 in their 65 overs.

In reply, Leicestershire could only score 203 with their skipper Hallam scoring 106. Brian Statham took the first ever five-wicket haul in List-A cricket, bowling a spell of 5/28.

It was the Twenty20 Cup in England in 2003. 35 matches were played but not a single century was scored. The 36th match of the tournament was played between Gloucestershire and Warwickshire.

Gloucestershire won the toss and captain Mark Alleyne opted to field first. Jonathan Trott scored 65 from 54 balls and Warwickshire posted 134/7.

In reply, Gloucestershire was off to a terrific start with Ian Harvey smashing the Warwickshire bowlers all across the ground. The Aussie's trans-Tasman opening partner Craig Spearman did not get much strike but whenever he got the strike, he made the most of it.

The pair added 96 before Spearman was dismissed for 23. Harvey continued to dazzle and he went on to score the very first century in the history of Twenty20 cricket. Harvey took 56 balls to reach his hundred.

He remained unbeaten on 100 and Gloucestershire chased down the total within 14 overs. Harvey would later go on to be the third highest run scorer of the tournament and this was the first of his three T20 hundreds.
