Ahmed Shehzad has been suspended for four months for violating the Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) anti-doping laws.

The batsman provided an adverse sample in a test in Faisalabad during the Pakistan Cup and was charged with two violations before being provisionally banned on July 10.

Shehzad, who has made 151 international appearances across all formats, has now admitted the charge and accepted a four-month suspension, backdated to July, although he insists he did not intend to cheat.

The 26-year-old will also be required to deliver lectures on anti-doping at the PCB's request.

Ehsan Mani, the PCB chairman, said: "The PCB has a zero tolerance policy towards doping in cricket and hopes that, in future, cricketers will exercise utmost care to ensure that no prohibited substances enter their system."
