Stats: Pakistan's 450th ODI win and Yasir Shah's career-best bowling figures

Yasir Shah helped Pakistan defeat Zimbabwe by 131 runs in the first one-day international (ODI) of the three-match series at the Harare Sports Club in Harare. Shah took six wickets as Zimbabwe’s weak defence was revealed early while chasing 260 runs target posted by Pakistan. Here are some interesting numbers from yesterday’s game.

450 - Number of ODI matches Pakistan have won overall - making it the 2nd most successful team in ODIs in terms of matches won. Australia with 533 wins is on the top while India with 448 wins.

1st - Instance when Pakistan scored 259 runs in the first innings of an ODI match. Overall, Pakistan have done it five times with four of them coming in 2nd innings of the match.

226 - ODI Matches in bilateral series Pakistan have won now, which are most for any team. India with 218 and Australia with 199 such victories are on 2nd and 3rd spot.

5 - Instances prior to today when all 10 wickets were taken by spinners in an ODI game. Yesterday was the 6th such instance when Pakistani spinners wrapped the whole Zimbabwean without any help from pacers. Pakistan has now done it twice while Zimbabwe is part of 5 out of 6 such matches with 2 on the bowling side and 3 on the batting side including yesterday’s.

0 - Number of bowlers (excluding Zimbabweans) in ODI history prior to yesterday to play part twice in the instance of all ten wickets taken by Spinners in an ODI game. Shoaib Malik became the first non-Zimbabwean bowler to place his name against this record by taking 3 wickets today. Malik was the part of wicket-taking bowlers when all then wickets of Bangladesh were taken by Pakistani spinners in Dec 2011, and interestingly he took exactly 3 wickets that day. The other players to do so on occasions more than once all belong to Zimbabwe (Price, Utseya, and Cremer).

6-26 - Bowling figures of Yasir Shah in yesterday’s game which is best for any spinner in Zimbabwe, 2nd best for a Pakistani spinner after Shahid Afridi’s 7-12 vs WI, 5th best for any spinner after Muralitharan, Afridi, Kumble and Mendis. In fact, all top 9 slots are occupied by Asian Spinners with Cremer coming on number 10. Shah’s 6-26 are his personal best and his first five-wicket haul in ODIs.

61 - Runs scored by Imad Wasim in yesterday’s game which is his first fifty in One Day Internationals. He has played two innings so far scoring 15 in his first.

75* - Runs scored by Muhammad Rizwan in yesterday's game which is his personal best in ODIs surpassing 67 he scored in the very first ODI game. He has now scored three fifty-plus scores in 8 innings so far.

124 - Runs scored by Imad Wasim and Mohammad Rizwan for 6th wicket in yesterday’s game - which is 3rd highest 6th wicket partnership for Pakistan in ODIs and their highest against Zimbabwe going past 116 made by Misbah and Afridi eight years ago. These two are the only instances when Pakistan have posted a 65 plus runs partnership for 6th wicket against Zimbabwe.

7 - Number of times prior to yesterday Pakistan have posted 100 or more runs for 6th wicket partnership - today it was eighth such instance.
