The 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup is around the corner and the cricket fanatics are eager to know which players will be making the cut in the final squad for the much awaited cricketing event. This time the format of the tournament has changed and each side will have to face every other participating nation at least once, which makes the competition a lot stiffer for the teams to qualify for the knockouts. The Indian cricket team will begin their World Cup journey from 5th of June and will face off against South Africa.

Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan will double up as the openers, followed by Indian skipper Virat Kohli at one-down and Ambati Rayadu at 4. The idea of Virat Kohli batting at 4 will be risky and might prove to be devastating. As far as a backup opener is concerned, Kohli or Rayadu can play the role if needed.

Since many teams would not like to waste a crucial spot in the fifteen having a backup opener warming the bench all through the tournament, a floating batsman would be a better choice.

MS Dhoni is exceptional behind the stumps and his batting form in 2019 has been appreciable. Dinesh Karthik as his backup instead of Rishabh Pant makes more sense since the former brings a wealth of experience with him, and his ability to finish matches is not unknown. In addition to this, he could be the floater in the side.

Kedar Jadhav and Hardik Pandya as the all-rounders in the XI with Ravindra Jadeja as a back-up is an option. Jadeja is an excellent fielder, bowler and a handy batsman and has good experience of playing in England.

India undoubtedly has the best bowling lineup in the tournament. Their spin duo of Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav are extremely effective in the middle overs. Jasprit Bumah, Bhuvaneswar Kumar and Mohammed Shami will complete the pace battery. Umesh Yadav should be the fourth pacer as he is way more experienced than the other options at the team's disposal and he was India's leading wicket-taker in the last World Cup. His recent exploits in the Ranji Trophy might also boost his chances.

For those who think what about Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, Manish Pandey and Shreyas Iyer and others, well they do have a narrow chance in form of the upcoming season of the IPL to prove their worth.

An excellent season would definitely force the selectors to have second thoughts. We can expect BCCI to announce the World Cup squad by the 15th of May.

India's Expected World Cup squad

Virat Kohli(C), Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Ambati Rayadu, MS Dhoni (WK), Dinesh Karthik, Kedar Jadhav, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvaneswar Kumar, Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav.
