The expectations were sky high and the pressure was on India to post a big score on the board.

Ajinkya Rahane and Rohit Sharma provided a decent start to the team and Virat Kohli just continued on the script. He hit 11 fours and 1 six in his knock and provided the much needed fiery finish that pushed India's score past 190.

MS Dhoni won the toss and sent Windies to bat first on a lively wicket which had assistance to the bowlers. Gayle and Chanderpaul got them off to a cautious start and didn't allow the Indian seamers to exploit the conditions.

The ever explosive Chris Gayle played a very uncharacteristic inning where his strike rate never got over 150. However, the important aspect was that he batted till the last over and if not for the run-out off the penultimate delivery, Gayle would have reached the toughest T-20 century of his career. He only thrived in the last 5-6 overs of the innings and got Windies over 165 with the help of 5 fours and 7 maximums.

Ultimately, it proved out to be more than enough as Indians fell short by 14 runs.

Simmons used all his expertise of playing at the Wankhede for Mumbai Indians as he hit 7 fours and 5 sixes in his match-winning knock.

However, he did had luck on his side as he was dismissed twice of no-ball and Jadeja misjudged his catch on the boundary as he stepped on the boundary ropes while catching the ball. Simmons made sure that he made full use of the chances he got and stood there till the end with Russell.

By some distance, the best knock of Lewis' career.
By some distance, the best knock of Lewis' career.

India batted first and courtesy impressive cameos from Kohli and Karthik, set a big target of 191 for the West Indies.

The Caribbean side had enough firepower in them to chase it down but the way Evin Lewis single-handedly made a mockery of the target was scary.

He unleashed and went on a berserk mode where the balls seemed to him like obstacles and he continued to kick them out of his way. He ripped apart the Indian bowling and hit 6 fours and 12 maximums to give West Indies the victory in the 19th over itself.
