Kieron Pollard has never been let go by Mumbai Indians ever since the franchise bought him for $750,000 in the third edition of IPL.

He has been retained again by Mumbai Indians shows how much faith they have in him. He has won many games for his team be it with the bat or with the ball or with his breathtaking fielding.

Mumbai Indians will be pinning their hopes again on Pollard as the 11th edition of IPL begins on 7th April at Wankhede Stadium.

Let us look at the top three knocks by Pollard in the IPL History.


#3 70 (47) vs RCB - 2017

Royal Challengers Bangalore clashed with Mumbai Indians in the 12th game of Vivo IPL 2017.

Put into bat first RCB managed to reach 142/5 in their allocated 20 overs. In reply, Mumbai Indians were reeling at 7-4 with Samuel Badree creating havoc with the ball.

Badree dismissed Parthiv Patel, Mitchell McClenaghan and Rohit Sharma in three successive deliveries to register his maiden hat-trick in his IPL career.

In walked Pollard to the crease with a huge task on his shoulders.

The devastating batsman however took time, played each ball on its merit without going for big hits on a slow pitch. When Nitish Rana was dismissed in the eighth over, Mumbai Indians still required 110 runs in 12 overs.

With more than nine runs required per over, Pollard opened up his shoulders. He took on the likes of Pawan Negi, Yuzvendra Chahal and Tymal Mills smashing them for sixes over deep long on and long off.

The Trinidadian reached his 50 off 41 balls by smashing a straight six down the ground.

Mumbai Indians reached the target with seven balls to spare thanks to a magnificent 70 from Pollard.

This knock showcased his true caliber and it proved he can adapt to any situation and play accordingly. He was also awarded the Man of the Match.

#2 66 (33) vs Sunrisers Hyderabad - IPL 2013

This would be considered the most destructive knock by Pollard in his T20 career.

Electing to bat first Sunrisers Hyderabad put up a solid total of 178/3 in their allocated 20 overs. In reply, Mumbai Indians were struggling at 99/3 with 78 runs to get of 32 balls.

Pollard walked into the crease to accompany his Captain Sharma. He had a sedate start to his innings scoring only nine runs of his first 10 balls.

With 62 runs to win from 24 runs what followed was absolute Mayhem at the Wankhede Stadium.

Thisara Perera was given the ball to bowl the 17th over.

The first ball of the over was smashed for a SIX by Sharma who followed it up with a single of the second ball. Pollard smashed the 3rd ball of the over for a FOUR towards the deep mid-wicket boundary.

He then hit the 4th ball of the over for a SIX straight down the ground. There was no respite for Perera as the last two balls of the over were clobbered for two SIXES, one straight down the ground and the other over wide long-on. 29 runs were scored off the over and Perera was shattered.

Leggie Amit Mishra was given the 18th over to pick up a wicket. Sharma took a single of the first ball handing over the strike to Pollard.

The mighty right-hander launched into the leg-spinner clobbering him for two gigantic sixes of the second and third ball of the over.

He missed a googly of the fourth ball, attempting for his sixth maximum. A rattled Amit Mishra bowled a waist-high full toss which was again smashed into the stands over the deep square leg.

Pollard took a single of the last ball of the over to reach his fastest IPL 50 off just 20 balls.

The West Indian was circumspect against Dale Steyn who bowled the 19th over, which went for only five runs.

With seven runs to win off the last over, the Trinidadian finished the game in style by smashing two gigantic sixes of Perera.

Mumbai Indians registered a famous win at their home thanks to a breathtaking 66 off 27 balls by the mighty man.

He single-handedly turned the game on his head with his destructive batting. Overs 17 and 18 combinedly yielded 50 runs which was the turning point of the game. For his heroics, Pollard was awarded Man of the Match.

On the eve of the finals of 2013 edition of the IPL, Mumbai Indians elected to bat first against Chennai Super Kings in front of a packed Eden Gardens.

Mumbai Indians lost quick wickets at the start and were struggling at 58/4 by the end of 10 overs.

Pollard and Rayudu resurrected the innings together adding a valuable 48 runs partnership for the fifth wicket.

On a slow turner, Pollard took on the likes of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja smashing them for boundaries.

On a difficult wicket with the pressure of finals and with wickets falling at the other end, Pollard showed maturity and intent to last till the last ball of the innings.

He took a particular liking to his fellow countrymen Dwayne Bravo when he smashed the medium pacer for two sixes of the last two balls of the 20th over to take his team to a fighting total of 148/9.

Pollard's 32-ball 60 comprised of seven boundaries and three sixes over the fence.

In reply, Chennai were never in the chase losing wickets at regular intervals. In the end, Chennai reached 125/9 falling short by 23 runs.

Pollard had a decent outing on the field, taking a catch and picked up the wicket of Ashwin.

This effort meant Mumbai Indians lifted their maiden IPL trophy.

Pollard singlehandedly won them the game and for his all-round effort, he was awarded Man of the Match.
