Vijay Hazare trophy is one of the biggest domestic tournaments in India. Each and every state in the nation wants to be recognized by winning this prestigious title.

It also provides young and talented cricketers from all the states to perform at a level equivalent to the international level as players who have played for the Indian National team also take part in this competition to make sure that they are always in the minds of the national selectors.

Star performers from here can go on to the big stage as the Indian National team selectors keenly observe players who perform exceptionally well and consistently throughout the tournament.

Here are the top three performers in the ongoing Vijay Hazare season.

#1 Shahbaz Nadeem’s brilliant spell

Nadeem's Brilliant spell of 8 for 10

The best performance of this season came from an underestimated left-arm orthodox spinner from Bihar, who broke the record for best bowling figures in list A cricket by taking eight wickets for just 10 runs, with an extraordinary four maidens bowled in a ten-over spell against Rajasthan.

Shahbaz Nadeem broke Rahul Sanghvi ’s record of 8 wickets for 15 runs which stood for 20 long years. Nadeem, who currently plays for Jharkhand state helped his team beat Rajasthan by seven wickets and won the best player award for the match as well.

#2 Karnaveer Kaushal's double hundred

Finally, the barrier of scoring a double century in list A cricket was overhauled by Karnaveer Kaushal of Uttarakhand against Sikkim on a batting friendly day. Karnaveer and his opening partner Vineet Saxena were all over the Sikkim bowlers as they surpassed another record-breaking opening stand of 296 runs in 254 balls. Vineet got out for an exact 100. However, Karnaveer carried the momentum which was built initially and scored a delightful double century as he managed to score 202 runs from 135 balls with 18 fours and 9 huge sixes, Uttarakhand registered 366 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in 50 overs.

Chasing the mammoth total of 366, Sikkim could only manage to score 167 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 50 overs. It seemed like they had given up the fight even before they could start their batting.

This beautiful innings from Karnaveer has to be on top of the best knocks in Vijay Hazare history books as it consisted of patience, dedication, and dominance.

#3 Yuvraj makes a comeback

Yuvraj Singh- The World Cup King
Yuvraj Singh- The World Cup King

Yuvi was back to dominate the domestic sector of Indian Cricket as he looked to remind the Indian Cricket team selectors for the World Cup 2019 spot. Currently, Indian team is struggling to handle the number 4 position, and who else can help them apart from Yuvi? Yes, he has not been in sublime form since his 150 against England which came at the Number 4 position itself, but his ability to be patient and counter-attack the opposition has been ruthless to watch. We just can’t forget the champ who was one of the very few reasons behind India winning the 3 World Cups (2000 U-19, 2007-T20, 2011 ODI).

As we talk about Yuvi, he once again proved that he indeed is the Singh whom India can have in the Number 4 position. In the ongoing Vijay Hazare trophy 2018 against Railways, Yuvi amassed a well-built cautious innings of 96 runs from 121 deliveries, which included 6 boundaries and 5 humongous sixes as Punjab posted 284 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 50 overs. Yuvi, with fellow mate Gurkeerat, who scored 101 runs, helped Punjab defeat Railways by 74 runs when Railways could only manage to score 210 in their 50-over quota.

We hope to see Yuvi play for India again for one last time in the World Cup and be the hero again which he always was and will remain.
