What a year it was for the greenhorn opener, Mayank Agarwal. The right-hander took no time in finding his feet in international cricket and he was able to hit the ground running. Agarwal had scored a truckload of runs in the domestic circuit before making his Test debut and he was able to bear fruit for the hard yards he had put in while playing for Karnataka.

The 28-year-old scored 754 runs in 11 innings at an average of 68.54 in 2019. The right-hander has grabbed the opportunity with both hands and scored three centuries and two fifties in 2019. India had been long looking for a stable Test opener and Agarwal has come as the solution to the team's woes.

Agarwal has shown the right technique and he is only going to get better with time.
