The ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 is underway at England and it has given us some great points to talk about. In the build-up to the blockbuster tournament, the pitches in England were expected to be flat and full of runs. While this has come true to some extent, many teams are struggling to cross the 350 barrier.

One of the biggest reasons for that is the inability of set batsmen to convert there starts into big hundreds. In ODI cricket, this is one of the biggest skills a batsman can acquire, converting his 20's into '50s and '50s into 100's. There are many players in the world who showcase this on the big stage and in this slideshow, we are going to rank the top 5.

Before taking a look at the list, the players to be mentioned in this list must have played at least a 100 innings. Also, some players narrowly missed out on this list and it's only fair to mention them.

Honourable mentions: Rohit Sharma (India) and Quinton de Kock (South Africa).

So, without further ado, let's take a look at the top 5 players with the best 50 to 100 conversion rate in ODI cricket:

The current Australian One Day skipper ranks 5th on this list. Aaron Finch is having the World Cup of his life as he has already scored over 500 runs with 2 centuries. Finch is a destructive opener who can take the game away from the opposition and his batting has improved drastically since he took up the captaincy role for the Kangaroos.

Finch has played 117 ODIs, scoring 4556 runs at an average of almost 41 with 24 half centuries and 15 hundreds. The 32-year-old has a terrific conversion rate and that means whenever he gets set, he makes sure to score big. Finch still has a long way to go if he wants to be counted among best openers to ever play for Australia in ODI cricket.

The other half of India's terrific opening partnership, Shikhar Dhawan has been consistently scoring in this format for over 6 years now and it is no surprise that he his fourth in this list. The Southpaw is one of the most destructive openers in world cricket and he alongside Rohit Sharma are recognized to be one of the best opening pairs to ever play for India.

Dhawan has played 130 ODIs, scoring 5480 runs at an amazing average of 45 with 27 half centuries and 17 centuries. The 33-year-old was unfortunately ruled out of the world cup due to a broken thumb but 'Gabbar' did manage to leave with a bang as he blazed Australia around with a magnificent hundred.

#3 Hashim Amla (C/Rate: 40.91)

South Africa's mainstay at the top of the order and one of the best batsmen of this generation. The South African has been breaking records in ODI cricket since he started playing the format and it wouldn't be wrong to say that he might be the best opener ever produced by South Africa.

In the 181 ODIs that Amla has played, he has scored 8113 runs at an average of almost 50 with 39 half centuries and 27 hundreds. Amla isn't having the best of World Cups in England but the 36-year-old is still one of the very best cricket has to offer.

Even before you started reading this slideshow, you might have guessed that the current Indian skipper might pop up somewhere on this list. Yes, Virat Kohli isn't first on this list which is surprising as he mostly tops every list as far as batting in ODI cricket is concerned. The 31-year-old is a freak of nature and his consistency in almost every form of the game is unbelievable.

Kohli has played 234 ODIs in which he has amazed 11251 runs at an astonishing average of 60 with 54 half centuries and 41 hundreds. The Indian skipper is known as the modern chase master as most of his hundreds have come while chasing. There is simply no better batsman in world cricket than Virat, at least in the ODI format.

#1 David Warner (C/Rate: 44.44)

One of the most under-appreciated batsmen in world cricket is the Australian opener David Warner and the fact that he is first on this list might come as a surprise to many. This is also considering that Warner was out of international cricket for a year and returned only recently in the ongoing World Cup. Warner has amassed 516 runs in the world cup and established his credentials of being one of the very best in the world.

The explosive opener has played 114 ODIs, scoring 4859 runs at an average of 45 with 16 hundreds and 20 half centuries. The 32-year-old is reaching the latter part of his career but he is showing no signs of slowing down. Warner is very destructive once he gets going and I personally can watch him play forever.
